This is likely due to a setting in your preferences for files within iTunes:
Please see the metadata matrix for information on how the metadata is loaded/saved from/to rekordbox and audio and video files.
AIFF tags are supposed to be supported properly by Rekordbox but there are a few glitches that I have encountered. It's mainly a problem between iTunes not supporting id3v2.4 but nevertheless Rekordbox should not behave in this manner.
When you import an AIFF file the "label" field is populated with the content of the "grouping" field. So far so good but Rekordbox doesn't automatically write the label into the id3 tag so if you reload it the "label" field is filled with the content of the tag, exactly nothing. If you do any updates to your tags in iTunes and want to re-load the tag in Rekordbox without losing information you will either have to re-import it, re-analyze it and re-tag it with cue points and hot cues or manually re-enter the label into the "label" field. Easy choice? Maybe not! If you manually alter the "label" field in Rekordbox it will update the id3 tag and for some strange reason first delete the artwork from the AIFF file and then, since you're re-loading the tag, from Rekordbox. So keep your artwork handy...

@THM > Will report to the engineers.
Thanx!
Uhm, that may be because AIFFs don't actually have ID3 tags, they have metadata, but it's not ID3. Regardless, the problem would remain with the fields. ;)
good morning everybody,
I have the same issue with mp3. I saw that sometimes if I update ID3 tags, some tags will be overwrite on iTunes (this is the way I would like) Rekordbox to iTunes and some times as you explained just above, I loose all my tags into rekordbox.
is it possible to choose the way of the update, please ? currently I didn't decide anything and it word on both way, that I just would like choose :)
have a nice day
anyone has any idea about how to fix this choice, please ?
@fred > Sorry, there's no way to force either software to be the master or slave in terms of updating their data; your best bet is to change the actual ID3s and then refresh the program databases.
hi Pulse,
what do you mean by ID3 and the program databases please ?
I can understand that I cannot force any program to be the master but I was thinking that according the way you use to copy your music maybe there was a link with the updating way.
@fred > I've just received info that the information originally posted by Henrik has been addressed and will be fixed in a future update.
thx a lot
Reloading tags does still clear label fields in 5.5.
Hey, 7 years later - will the bug be fixed anytime?
Thanks
@Plangin, ended up here for the same reason. That's unacceptable.
MOVE ON GUYS
@ Pulse
Reloading tag does still empty the Label field.
Just tested it again in 5.8.2 Beta.
The option you're showing (Group -> Label) is not checked here.
Please see the linked metadata matrix at the top of this thread; the Label field is NOT loaded for certain filetypes, and thus would be blanked-out when reloading tags.
OK, I tested it with AAC (.m4p).
But, if it is not "NOT loaded for certain filetypes", why is it necessary to erase the data I entered into rekordbox by hand?
For me, it is still a bug.
Still happening with v6 (at least on MP3 files)
I have convert Grouping to Labels on, but it doesnt overwrite the Label tag as if I click "reload tag" the original value comes back to haunt me
If you're still having this problem, please file an inquiry ticket here and our support team will gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.
Thank you.
