Well the idea was to copy my playlists before upgrading in case something goes wrong,
NOTE: i do not want to loose over 2 years of playlists
i made a backup of my rekordbox folder just in case but as eggs is eggs 1.6.2 crashes upon opening (which i asked if this was going to happen in my other post and never got a response after a week or so and it does)
i so wish pioneer had invested decent money and written decent software
SO just to be clear 1.5.3 opens and 1.6.2 doesnt.
As much as i love my decks im sick of constantly trying to fix this damn software.
with 121k of tunes in my rbx i do not want to rescan everything and make new playlists and it is a lot of work gone down the drain.
if i could export my playlists and then rescan a new database if i had to then it may of been a work around but now im at a stand still.
thoughts please?
And yes it will work with a new database.
As I'm sure you're aware, I was away for a couple of weeks... but now I'm back, baby.
121k as in 121,000 songs? Can I start by asking ... WHY?! lol
Next question... it crashes only when exporting from 1.5.4, and crashes when opening the software using 1.6.2, unless you use a new (blank) database in which case it opens?

As that is my collection :)
Next question...
it crashes only when exporting from 1.5.4, -- yes but 153 and 154 opens and works
and crashes when opening the software using 1.6.2, ---- yes
unless you use a new (blank) database in which case it opens? -- yes
Ok Pionix, lets assess the database.
It could be that your database is corrupted or damaged and you need to try loading the backup database. Ensure rekordbox is closed and find your database in the following location:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Pioneer\rekordbox
Vista: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
Win 7: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox
Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old
Rename datafile.backup.edb to datafile.edb (removing .backup)
Restart rekordbox and see if it opens. If it does, the main database was corrupted and the backup was working okay.
If it does not open, go back and rename ALL of the datafile files in that folder to .old and restart Rekordbox once more. If it does load, both the original and backup database were corrupted and you will have to re-import your songs once more.
the software works and the database works in 154.
it will not open with anything newer,
all i want to do is backup my playlists them i'm happy to restart the process on the new software but that doesnt work, it crashes,
is there a way for me to read the database and save the playlists manually?
@Pionix > I'm going to open a ticket for this - please standby.
Thanks gavin.
@Pionix > The engineers want you to send them the "datafile.edb" and "datafile.backup.edb"
You can find these files in the following location:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Pioneer\rekordbox
Vista: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
Win 7: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox
Please email the files to me (gavin[at]mixaddicts[dot]<com>)
Gavin, You have mail.
Got it, thanks!
Gavin,
Did we ever get any kind of result on this?
I started this thread in august and still not had any feedback?
