Feature Request: Camelot Key Notation

I realize Pioneer would prefer to avoid licensing the Camelot system, but I'm afraid that it's just too inconvenient to use the standard notation for keys.

With Camelot notation, you can sort by Key alphabetically and have all of your compatible music shown together.  This simply is not possible with Standard notation.

Standard notation came first. Then came the Camelot system. Its all a matter of which system you happened to learn. Being from a musical background, its easier to understand what flows well using standard notation.

You can very simply organise your music by key in rekordbox and rename using the Camelot notation if you wish.

Pioneer assumes that all DJs have a musical background. Cool. I do have a basic understanding of the piano key structure, but still prefer to use camelot.

Camelot is just a quicker and more convenient system, especially when you take alphabetical sorting into account.

Yes, I realize I could simply type in my Camelot numbers into the Key Field.  But I am guessing that means with the CDJ-2000 Nexus that the Green Light system won't work?

@koobah > Well yes, it is a musical business and standard notation is the way it has always been. Camelot notation came along recently and made things a little easier. You can batch rename all your tracks if you wish using Camelot notation. Alternatively, have MiK write the key to the comments field and then have rekordbox write to the key field. Then you'll have the best of both worlds.

@Fuse > Yes yes, I'm not arguing the point - I do agree Camelot is much easier for the majority of people. Please see my suggestion I made to Koobah above.

supporting camelot means you have to have support on devices(CDJs) as well.  Which becomes a major pain in the ass.  people using DJM/CDJs have been using standard notation for ages!

Ok, so heres a thought. People @ Pioneer claim to pay royalties for certain features to use in their products.

Well granted, but how about the full versions of Rekordbox DJ?

Even if you pay good money you still don't get what you want.

I mean. Denon got this in their hardware now ffs. It analyze on the fly.

Is it to much to ask to get this in Rekordbox. Cause mixed in key is a great software but limited if your connection fails. Im now at a place where we have lots of outages and with MIK you have to watch it constant so theres no "error" and that happens quite often.

I know for a fact I'm not the only one that mixes in key and with the camelot system.

I can pay for the software if it means i have an all in one solution.

And when were at it. The technicians at Pioneer should make a tageditor like mp3tag. They should look at the GUI and work from there. Its a breeze to tag and edit music. But i feel its broken when you need 3 programs to do a simple task. Rekordbox, MIK and MP3tag.

Rekordbox V is a step in the right direction. But I'm egoistic and i want more. if you look at the price i payed for all my gear. Its quite reasonable to make these requests.

If you get the flow to work with just one system and one program you will knock the competitors right out the ballpark.

Cheers
