Setting Beat Grids, Complication with Rekordbox

Hey,

I have Rekordbox version 2.01 and here is my dilemma:

I have one specific track where the beat grid is completely fine until there is a brief moment of silence.  When the track kicks back in, Rekordbox reads it to be coming in again on the 3rd beat... when really it should be the first.

Is there anyway to manipulate the beat grid without it affecting the rest of the track?  I know you can do this on Traktor by setting multiple 1st beat markers; however, can you do this with Rekordbox?

Thanks, I appreciate the support!

The issue here is a poorly produced track.  The producer made an error in timing for when the break ends.

The only way to deal with this in Rekordbox is to adjust the grid in sections.  There is a button which locks all previous grid markers and then allows you to stretch/shrink the spacing for only markers after the set point.  You could adjust the beginning of the track, and then lock the grid before that breakdown.  Then stretch the grid and lock on the first beat at the end of the breakdown, and then adjust the remainder of the track's grid markers.

It's not the perfect solution, but it's about all you can do without editing the track in DAW software.

Yes you can sort it I posted a similar thread as i had the same issue, on the Rekordbox 2.0.1 software there is a button called make adjustment from current position basically select the first downbeat after the issue you can start the phrase again from this point without affecting the beatgrid before that position.. Hope this helps

Hey Paul,

I tried that earlier today. I click on "make adjust from current position" but when I add the first beat marker, it changes the beat grid for the entire track instead of from that position moving forward... maybe I'm missing a step or doing something wrong? Can someone walk me through it please? I've been racking my brain for hours on this

Thanks,
Brian

HI Brian, that's strange it should only adjust the beatgrid from the point where you select the button, fuse talks about the exact same thing (apologies I didn't read your response before responding with the same info)

I should clarify my response by adding the following:

You can use the button to "Adjust beatgrid from point" but once you do that you cannot use the "Set first beat here" button again.  You must Shrink the beat grid until the red lin hits the beat you want, and then hit the "Adjust grid from point" button on that beat and then stretch the grid for the remainder of the track.  The result is that you will have a small section of track with a higher BPM reading than actual.... but it will be correct again after it hits the end of that breakdown.

I know this is not an ideal solution because of the incorrect BPM setting for that segment, but like I said previously....  it's the best option available without using a DAW software to edit the track.
