[SOLVED] Remotebox - Folders inside playlists not displayed !?

Hello again,

As categories are not working on Remotebox, (it is incredible, I repeat myself but Pioneer tell me please that it is a bug and that it will be corrected !) I reorganize my tracks under playlists because I have a gig to manage, and then ... another bug !

Why the playlists organized by folders in Rekordbox are in a random order in Remotebox and why the folders are not displayed ? All the playlists are under the same root.

It's really really annoying and frustrating to not have the same behaviour on all devices, on such simple features !

You create things in Rekordbox, and you can not retrieve them elsewhere, so why giving the ability to the user to work with these simple features if they are not used  after in the devices ?

I hope a quick update of remotebox will fix this issue.

Thank you

Axel

This is probably not an issue with remotebox because you have the same problem if you use the xdj-r1 without it. My guess is that the bug is in rekordbox when he build the library on the device.

Any comment from a Pioneer moderator ? Just a question of respect, we say hi, we write something, we are not posting here by pleasure but because we have issues and questions ! So just a "ok", a "hello", a "we are investigating", a "this is a known issue we are working on it" or a "sell your device because it will never do this", just an answer to a simple question is a minimum I think between humans, we are not animals or objects. Thank you in advance.

Pulse, as you are very active again on the forums, could it be possible to have an answer on this, please ? As I understand it is impossible to sort our tracks as we want due to lack of categories? The only way I have to sort my tracks by BPM is to create playlists by BPM range. But for each Genre (neither available as a category), I need a folder to put my playlists

So, categories not working, playlist folders neither ? Impossible to manage a bank of thousands of tracks.

If I have to manage with album tag then there is no added value to deal with mp3s, I keep my CDs !

He means subfolders in the playlist folder as they apear on every pioneer products. Only the XDJ-R1 ignore them as they all are in the playlist root folder.

On the XDJ-R1, the playlists are not in their subfolder, they are at the root.

Hello Gavin, back from holidays, so as said Franck L, all playlists are at the root.

For example, on Rekordbox, and on every Pioneer DJ Devices, XDJ Aero, etc... :

ROOT

|-- FOLDER A

     |-- playlist x

     |-- playlist y

|-- FOLDER B

     |-- playlist z

BUT, on XDJ R1, and Remotebox, this what you get:

ROOT

|-- playlist x

|-- playlist y

|-- playlist z

Folders, and subfolders are not taken into account, I do not explain you the mess when you have same playlist names but in different folders ... you can imagine.

Just make a simple test you will see.

I'm always wondering if people are testing the features they provide, it's a basic feature in rekordbox to create playlists and playslist folders, so it should be tested to know if you can retrieve after on the XDJ R1 for example, or on the other devices.

Maybe it is an other limitiation regarding the rekordbox features integration by XDJ-R1 ?

Pioneer ? Maybe in a 1.09 firmware update ?

Otherwise, thank you for having patch an important issue for me, the 1st Cue memory point that was not loading. You closed the dedicated  topic, so I say you "Thank You !" here. The 1.08 firmware update was a long expected one, but here it is ! Thanks a lot !

Subfolders would actually make this product useable

Engineers have responded:

Sorry, subfolders are not displayed.

Even if you make playlists which are in folders or subfolders in rekordbox, export them into a USB device and see the playlists in XDJ-R1 and Remotebox, all of the playlists are displayed just below ROOT and you can't see the folders or subfolders. This behavior is in accordance with R1's specification because R1 uses a different database from other CDJ players.  Considering the price difference of the total of 2 CDJ and a mixer, some features are missing or limited, just like the issue of 10,000 track limit.

We are afraid that the specification can't be changed via firmware update and apologize for any inconvenience.
