Import music with Android Phone App Ver. 1.1.6 from external hard drive

I have finally managed to get my 1.5TB external hard drive (FAT32) accepted by my Samsung Galaxy S4 with all my music. Can read and play without problems. The music, by the way, was previously fully analysed by Rekordbox on my PC.

I can change the path of my music library in the app, so that it would know where to import the music files from. But still, when I go into the import menu, it would still only show the music from the original path on my phone (a folder in the built in memory of the phone). Is that a bug or am I doing the settings at the wrong place or is importing from an external hard drive not possible at all?

And I just tried the same thing with a 8GB USB stick. Same thing. Therefore I do believe that I am adjusting the import path at the wrong place...

Thanks for help..

I have an S4, I dont have an answer for ya but I do have some questions :)

  1. what did you use to connect the drive to the S4, a Juiced adapter or small converter cable?

  2. if the juiced one, are you able to get the s4 to work on the CDJ via the usb cable or you have to go through a wireless router?

  3. which wireless router are you using?

I am debating this as a backup and want to run it though a 5ghz router, we shall see

BTW, What I have tried in the past with externals to droid devices, or even SD cards for that matter is export your library using RB on the laptop, then put the drive in the S4 and change the path to /storage/extSdCard (different patth for usb drives)  Then the RB app on the phone should read all the music on the external drive when you go to the prepare window, you should not have to "import" them being you already have them prepared by RB from the laptop

Hi BriChi

I am using a simple bridge connector (non juiced) to connect the USD hard drive. The connection itself is not a problem, the phone perfectly recognises all of it.

So I am not using WiFi to connect the music.

But you have a good idea about exporting the music from RB on the PC to the drive. Will try that now and then change the path to "/storage/UsbDriveA/Music", as this is the path for the library. Will let you know with update.

Thanks.
