Help needed. Major Stability issues. Continuous crashing on start-up.

Hi

So following on from my last thread, which concluded by confirming the issue with Pro DJ LINK and rekordbox's incompatibility with Realtek network cards causing errors such as e-8302, e-8305 and e-8309......I decided to give rekordbox another chance and spend a further £20 on a none Realtek USB Ethernet adapter hoping that it would solve the problems without me having to switch to using a laptop or Traktor.

Although the USB Ethernet adapter did appear to solve the issues for a while, now there is an even bigger problem.

After updating to the latest version, rekordbox now crashes on start-up repeatedly. I've re-installed Windows 7 (clean Install) and created a user profile specifically for rekordbox to eliminate any interference and I'm still not getting anywhere.

I'll try too clearly explain what happens. If I uninstall rekordbox then reinstall it again, It will open fine, ill be asked to enter the license number information as it is a new install. I'll restore my rekordbox library, link with my CDJs and be able to mix as expected. Ill then unlink, turn my equipment off, click no to save history. Then it will crash, display the "rekordbox is not responding" error which will crash windows so I'll force log-off/shut down. Then Ill reboot/re-login, open rekordbox and it will just crash every single time on start-up (sustaining the logo) which then crashes Windows.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and crashing on start-up but if re-installed, will work for a first time ? As of now the i7 Desktop PC is running a clean install of windows 7 to limit any interference with very few other applications installed. I've also disabled the Realtek NIC to avoid conflict with the separate USB Ethernet adapter. This is confusing me and I'm starting to get frustrated. It just seems to be problem after problem now, plus the time it takes to troubleshoot these issues. After spending thousands on equipment I just want a stable set-up that I can use how I want, not spend more time troubleshooting problems than mixing.

Any help appreciated.

It could be that your database is corrupted or damaged and you need to try loading the backup database.

1) Ensure rekordbox is closed and find your database in the following location:

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Pioneer\rekordbox

Vista: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox

Win 7: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox

OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

2) Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old

3) Rename datafile.backup.edb to datafile.edb (removing .backup)

4) Restart rekordbox and see if it opens. If it does, the main database was corrupted and the backup was working okay.

If it does not open, go back and rename ALL of the datafile files in that folder to .old and restart Rekordbox once more. If it does load, both the original and backup database were corrupted and you will have to re-import your songs once more.
