[OPEN] Rekordbox creates UnknownArtist & UnknownAlbum when it should not

Hi all!

This is a problem I have that seems very random. In my Rekordbox library all the information is right (Artist Name, Album Name, etc), the ID Tag is right but when I transfer to my USB stick, a few artists become UnknownArtist, a few albums become UnknownAlbum and for some both Artist & Album. For example, Hardwell "Apollo" was created in UnknownArtist > UnknownAlbum instead of in Hardwell > Baccanali - Ibiza 2013. But from the same album Steve Aoki "Come With Me" was in the folder Steve Aoki > UnknownAlbum. That specific compilation is always under UnknownAlbum instead of Baccanali - Ibiza 2013. Another example, Nick Warren "La Fabrica" is under UnknownArtist > La Fabrica when it should be under Nick Warren > La Fabrica. I tried rewriting the name directly in Rekordbox before transferring and the same problem happens.

For me it is very important that the music is created in the right folders. Is there a way it could be fixed in a next update?

I'm using MacBook Pro 10.9.1 / 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / Most of my files are AIFF but some MP3 and the problem happened with both / WD My Passport Ultra is my drive...

Anybody else noticed this?

Check your artist and album information within rekordbox and be sure there's no space at the front of the field or other odd character encoding.

I have the same problem, and yes it very very random.
When you say "other odd character encoding" what does rekordbox not like?

Hello,

I created this topic without to see this one before, sorry :

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/42776928-How-are-created-folders-in-the-contents-folder-of-the-USB-Key-

I checked for myself and there is no space or any accent in the fields which cause this problem (I am French). I have some tracks with accents and it works fine.

I really don't know why it does it, but it is always the same files.

Thank you !

@Pulse & @HiFuGa1,

Me too I checked and there's no spaces or odd characters. I even manually rewrote the fields in Rekordbox hoping it would fix the problem but didn't work...

Hope someone can fix this...

Thanks!

Is there any fix for this? Or at least will the artists still show up correctly on the player in playlist or tracks view?

I don't know of any fix for this yet. For me everything shows up correctly on the pioneers but I'm also using that drive and the content for other stuff and I like everything to be clean and neat...

Oh, absolutely. It's going to bug the crap out of me that the folders are messed up but as long as I can make it through this gig without digging through unknowns to find tracks I'll be OK for now.

Same issue, screencapped below - no special characters, no reason why this particular folder should be creating a folder called "UnknownAlbum" (columns are Artist Name, Album, and File Location)

I've got the very same issue - using the mac os version. I think it's not random, because the problem exists with the same files over and over again. I also checked all ID3 entries and everything appears to be in place. Also I didn't find and difference in ID3 data from files that are correctly copied. There must be some hidden data which causes the problem...

@Pulse

Why can't we move the music in the Content folder as we wish and have an option in Rekordbox to find missing media?

That would be a long task for me, but at least would fix the problem...

Thanks!
