Traktor and Rekordbox in unison on a mac

Question ?  Can i have rekordbox and tractor installed with the option to use one or the other with my cdm/djm 2000 set up.  Some times i want to use rekordbox other times if i want to use tractor if i take it to a club/ event.  Since i got tractor to work, my link connection to my dim now doesn't work.  Im thinking I've changes a setting that i can't remember doing.  any takers?

yes you can, use Traktor as normal and when you want to use RB just hit the Rekordbox button on your Nexus players to read your laptop RB library. It must be all wired in via ethernet cables for RB and USB for Traktor, and of course the RCA cables from CDJ to DJM

also there is a program called Rekordbuddy which allows you to synchronize your traktor and RB library so you can keep the files and playlists duplicated between the 2 programs. Its in the app store

Mate your a legend,  i will look into record buddy.  My music is on an external as i have shed loads of it, when it duplicates does it just copy the file path or copy all the music........ so a 2tb library will need 4 tb space?

it doesn't even copy the music which is great, pretty much just duplicates the library and playlists within the program, the actual files are left alone

I'm a happy customer of rekordbuddy too (and an unhappy one of rekordbox LOL). Once you set it up correctly it's very easy to use, you need especially to look at the musical keys, check that all the settings are correct in rekordbox, traktor and rekordbuddy using the proper conversion tables. Traktor by default uses openkey notation, rekordbox uses standard musical notation and you need to explain it to rekordbuddy :)

I do my analysis in Traktor and then move the data over to rb with rekordbuddy, I use rekordbox only as a tool to upload the music to the USB stick, since the analysis of bpm and beatgrid is way better in Traktor, the key analysis is better in rekordbox, but it's basically the same as keyfinder, so I use keyfinder for the key and traktor for the beats and then move over the data to rekordbox with rekordbuddy.

As BriChi says, you can use rb and traktor together, rb on the ethernet and traktor on usb. But once you have properly synchronized the libraries with rekordbuddy you will not really need to switch between them while playing, just use the one you are more comfortable with.

oh by the way, i think i saw a post here or on traktor forum (i think it was here on the cdj 2000 forum) about switching back from traktor hid to rb link while playing, apparently there is a limitation in the cdj firmware and it will not work, you need to reboot the cdj.
