[SOLVED] Detecting external SD card for New Android

Hello!

I use the Rekordbox mobile app for a long time now. It works great, but at the moment, I can't seem to get it to detect my external SD card on my new android phone. (Samsung Note 4). It was working before, then suddenly, all of my songs and lists disappeared. I tried to follow the path specified in the library location section, for the new android os, but still no luck. I checked the data on the sd card, and all of my music and playlist info  is still there in the Rekordbox folders. Can someone please help point me in the right direction, to get this working again?

Thanks!

Lennon

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with using the rekordbox app on Android - I'll have to get one of the engineers to address your question.

Hi,

What version of Android are you using?

On KitKat (4.4), Android restricts the access to external SD cards.

That may be your problem here

@lennonpearson > @Toonz is correct:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.pioneer.prosv.android.rbm&hl=en

"Due to the specification change of Android 4.4 and later, writing to SD card is restricted by Android."

"Note: If those who use an SD card on Android 4.3 and earlier update to Android 4.4 and later, track information will not be displayed due to the above-mentioned restriction."

However, the major update in Android 5 and later removed the above restriction so that an SD card may be used in this version in the same way as Android4.3 and before.

Okay, my phone is on android 4.4. The strange thing is, is that it was working perfectly. I somehow got it to work for a few months. The other night I was playing on my cdjs's via wifi through the rekordbox mobile app too. Then as of a few days ago, I tried to run the app, and all my music isn't in the app anymore. On the mobile App, there is a path to specify to get it to work on 4.4. but now it keep saying invalid path?(sdcard)/Android/data/jp.pioneer.prosv.android.rbm/files. It was working, how can I get it to work again?

Hi,

I have upgraded to Android Lollipop 5.0.2 from Kitkat for the sole purpose of gaining access to the external sdcard but I'm sorry to say that the rekordbox app cannot access the external card .. although other apps can.

When changing the path to:
/storage/ext_sd/Android/data/jp.pioneer.prosv.android.rbm/files

The error is .. This folder is write-protected.

I've tried other folders and still the same error. There must be something that needs to change in the app for Lollipop
