Mine unit starting doing the same thing but not as noticeable.
I have come across a really disturbing issue with my DDJ-SX Controller. The controller is only now 7 months old, been treated with care all the way and is always stored in the original soft bag when not in use. Before new years it was all fine but when I pulled it out for a gig now last weekend, the face plate had started buckling around the master LEDs and left deck effects area. This did become better as the device got warmer but this seriously worries me! I always store the controller in the original soft bag when not in use and the room it is stored in can occasionally get a bit colder than the rest of the house but nothing like 0 degrees Celsius or below. I have also never exposed the device to high temperatures so now I'm worried this is a problem that will escalate over time.
A little research on the internet has shown me that I'm not alone with this issue as there is a whole thread on Serato's own forums on the subject:

has this issue really gone un-noticed by Pioneer? If that is the case it is disappointing and even more disappointing that this is the build quality we get from a pro flagship product.
I have also attached a picture from the serato thread, illustrating what the problem is.

This has also just happened to mine, very slightly. I only looked because i came across this post. I am very very disappointed as i bought mine only one month ago. Not been in uneven temperatures or anything like that so i don't know whats causing it. I hope this is covered by the warranty as i will be demanding an instant replacement. I went for the Pioneer unit for the build quality and this has absolutely crushed my faith in Pioneer at the moment.
Very sad to hear you've only owned yours for 1 month and this has already happened. I thought my unit was still quite new as it's not even a year old yet. I really hope Pioneer will answer for themselves soon about what the heck this is. What kind of material is the face plate made of to make it do this?
IMO> the end user should be at fault for this as most DJ GEAR on the market is mobile to transfer from a mobile setting to a storage setting.
There is no evidence in the warranty regarding how the unit issup
If you check out the serato thread you will find there are even owners who simply left the unit in their studio over night and the next day it looked like shit. How does the face plate buckle like that on it's own?
Is supposed to be used and I what setting should it be set in. I understand if I put my unit out on a deck for a pool party without coverage from the direct sun or if I left it in my vehicle for weeks on end during the change of temperatures.
I'm very concerned with the material chosen to make the DDJ SX. Pioneer has had a great reputation or build quality on other gear. Look at the CDJ line, they are a majority of plastic and I've seem many DJs mistreat their gear and it lasts for years.
I've had my SX for just shy of a year and it's starting to do this. Mass production or not the unit should be made to last.
Sorry for the typos THE END USER SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. Just like a car manufacture thing bend due to poor craftsmanship and they get covered
So true. The unit is the perfect gear for any DJ doing mobile jobs which should make it obvious the build quality should be able to handle that kind of care. If they used a shitty material like this just to make it lighter (as it is already a quite heavy controller compared to smaller ones), I'd gladly have it heavier knowing the material is rock solid.
Sorry to hear about the finish problems guys. If you are concerned about the faceplate affecting the performance of the unit, please contact technical support (links located at the right) to arrange to have your SX serviced.
Pioneer has stated that the rare cases where the faceplate has buckled or warped are due to a manufacturing defect will be repaired or replaced at no cost for units under warranty. Please contact your dealer or Pioneer technical support for further information.
