DDJ-SX does not work after updating firmware

I've had the DDJ-SX since Dec. 2012 which has worked fine with one exception, wireless microphone gets distorted easily. Normally, I do not connect my microphone to my ddj-sx, instead I connect the to pioneer djm-500 mixers, which I also use for my CDJs as well. I finally decided to upgrade my firmware from 1.0 to 1.07 and five days later, my system has not worked.

As soon as I turned my controller on, the lights on the load/prepare buttons start to flicker. When I try to reset it to the factory settings, all the lights on the left side of the controller stays on. Buttons are unresponsive. Serato DJ crashes shortly after starting the application with an "unable to sync" message in the lower right display area. This sounds like a serious hardware problem. Even if I try to use another laptop, I still get the same problem. Any suggestions as to why upgrading the firmware would caused a hardware failure, and has anyone else seen this problem? Really wish I had not seen the suggestion to upgrade firmware to fix microphone issue.
