DDJ SX Won't connect (properly)

Hi All,

I've got a realy strange issue with my pioneer DDJ SX.

I bought this controller a few years ago and it always worked perfectly

After my last gig somebody was pulled the power from my setup before i've shut everything down, ever since my controller has these issue's.

After hours of google and Trail and Error i stil couldn't fix the problem so hopefully you guys can help me out!

Some background information:I use a Macbook early 2009 model, running OSX 10.9 with Serato 1.7.5 (latest version)

The Problem:

After starting up my laptop and serato, I'll power up the DDJ SX. Serato says the device is found, but the layout doens't change, so it still shows the 1 deck layout. Serato doesn't respond to the controller input. (for example pressing play or browsing files).

When I drag a song into the single deck (from my laptop) you can see the inside of the jog wheel light up. when pressing play (also from my laptop) you can see the center spinning. [Attachment IMAG0044]

After exactly 1 minute Serato doens't recognise the controller any more and says "Connect compatible hardware to mix"

I already tried to factory reset the controller (by pressing [DECK1 / SHIFT] on powerup, and holding shift for 5 seconds. It doensn't work

However when holding [DECK1 / SHIFT] on powerup, the led volume bars of denk 2 and 4 showing a volume level [Attachment IMAG0041]

Then i tried to update the firmware, But when running the .jar file it says "Your DDJ SX is not Connected"

I assume there is still something in the memory of the controler due to the decks showing a volume level, but that is just my educated gues.

I really hope someone can help me out!

Thank you for your reply!

When trying to update i did hold the SHIFT + SYNC key on the left denk when switching on the controller. The volume incidators on the controller start blinking. So this sould mean the DDJ be able to update, but is cant connect. I tested this on a Macbook (2009), Imac (2009) both running OSX 10.9 and a Windows 7 laptop. Everywhere the same result.

i follewed the guide you mentioned, this shows that the device is connected! So that's a good thing i gues. (See Screenshot 1)

The strange thing is, when I'm in Serato and switch on my controller it sees my controller and tries to connect to it (See Screenshot 2)

After one minute i get the message it failed to connect (See Screenshot 3). I cannot figure out why that is.

resetting the controller also didn't work for me sadly

I really hope you have some other tips / tricks to get my controller up and running!

I also tried different USB Cables in case one is damaged, but this isn't the case.:(

Thanks for the screenshots, I'll pass this along to the engineers to see if they have any input.
