Pioneer DDJ SR Scratching latency / delay / awkwardness

Hey there. I have been getting back into DJing after a few years hiatus, and I just picked up the Pioneer DDJ-SR. Since there seems to be no more standard equipment setup anywhere these days, I figured a nice lightweight setup like this would a big improvement over having to lug my decks to some of the further out events, along with making it easier to switch me in and out with other DJ's.

Anyways, picked up the DDJ SR because it looked solid, has balanced outs, booth out, and felt solid. I've seen videos of people cutting with them, and having used many CDJ-800's and CDJ-1000's back in the day I have a lot of faith in pioneer. I also have Serato SL4 for vinyl control and it works excellent as well, and the ability to use different devices with the same software sounded great.

I get on this setup and... scratching sucks. It's always a bit behind, certain patterns just result in the damn thing bogging down and leaving me halfway through the sample instead of cripsly following. These are basic patterns, flare forward forward... all sorts of other basics but somewhat fast patterns just fail, mostly involving taking my hand off the jog wheel for a brief moment to play, and then jumping back on and quickly dragging back to the start of the sample.

I'm on a macbook. 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5. 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. 10.10.1. I have the latency at 2ms. No difference is made from 1 to 2 to 5. I have adjusted the jog wheel sensitivity (shift + Deck 1 or Deck 2 to increase or decrease) and going to a slightly lower sensitivity helped.

Anyone have any ideas? If I can get this puppy working good for scratching I'll be damn solid with this setup, but right now, scratching is pretty much out!

@Shred > What version of Serato DJ are you running? Which firmware is the SR running? Instructions to show the firmware version and updates are available here.

I have the latest firmware as of 6/28/15 and I have the latest version of Serato DJ as of 7/1/15 (they just had a firmware update).

I am also notcing a delay with the crossfader making one click flares awkward.

I have all programs closed, and wifi disabled as I have seen others write.

I have similiar issues with my Serato SL4 setup when the unit itself isn't plugged in with it's 9v power supply and is just running off of USB.

A thought regarding the scratching: I'm used to vinyl where to let it play forward you can't just lift up, like you can on a CDJ. Perhaps adjusting the start/stop speed would help better emulate vinyl? I'm still getting other funky issues as mentioned, but that may be an improvement?
