Nothing, because my local club would buy it, like they bought the pair of CDJ-2000Nexus and a DJM-900Nexus which I also am not able to buy.
"Club standard gear should fit software DJs!"
Hello,
Regarding the price of my SZ now, i think that 2100 $ should be a good price.
LOL, this is awesome!
Seriously, though, the principal benefit I see to something along these lines is portability, and this concept would be just too big for me. But, that said, a stand alone that solidly did two decks of 2000-like functionality, played off of solid state media, and had a good mixing section with a good set of beat effects (configurable to run a few of our personal favorites) some sample triggers and the like...Basically an R1 without the CD drives and good displays, or an Aero with hot cues, memories and a good set of displays. I concur that $2k for what is represented in the pic (4ch, 2 decks + 2 virtual decks) would be expected. Scaled back 2-deck version probably in the $1.5k range. Both amounts assume top notch construction.
For a club, the modularity of the status quo is a benefit due to ease of repair (spares can be swapped in while the other deck is playing...) not that I've ever had to do that a few times or anything...
And pioneer will be so stupid to bring a machinelike this out at the price of 2100$ to push everybody (not me...) to buy this instead of the nexus decks etc.
Really?
It is something for clubs to buy, not DJs.
Equipment developed for DJ portability have limitations that would not exist if the clubs bought the equipment. Like they already do with the VERY EXPENSIVE Nexus decks.
I then ask you, why we (software DJs) need to bring all the stuff?? Isn't it more racional that clubs who have a thousand times more money than us buy the equipment?
Then you may say there are a lot of DJs who don't use softwares.... Well, fine! The equipment will work just as the Nexus decks already do!
You don't need to bring all the stuff, you need to bring a usb stick, and pioneer needs to improve their software (like they already did with rb3.0) and still go on with improvements on the cdj's, which we expect soon...(i hope)
Yes, lets wait more 10 years so RB finally becomes the ultimate DJ software (if it will ever be! [and I am sure it won't!])
Pioneer already admits that Traktor and Serato are much superior by making such a huge market of Software Controllers.
I use a laptop and **I do need **to bring stuff to the DJ booth, cause the current club standard by Pioneer doesn't offer me the minimum buttons, encoders and knobs that I need. I, also, am not the only one that brings stuff as, again, Pioneer sells so much Software Controllers.
it's only a matter of time until someone does it right...
@DJTRICE > $2100?? Let me see if you understand technology... The DDJ-SZ is a controller with a built-in audio mixer and audio interface. You expect that Pioneer could create a stand-alone player which requires some sort of processor and memory, as well as two displays for ONE HUNDRED dollars more than the SZ? Not happening.
Well, Aero is missing good displays, loops, hot cues, and cue memories.
R1 is missing good displays, and cue memories.
There are a few craptastic products out there, stanton's latest firmware release is starting to look interesting. Their display is still crap. But the stupid thing is inexpensive, even though it has a color display, hot cues, and live waveforms. Oh, it can play FLAC's, too...
Only a matter of time until someone gets it right...
Hi Pulse,
I was talking about a Pio controller with 2 screens like the Num... NV, but wasn't talking about a real Pio stand alone controller
P.S: actual price in France is now +/- 1800 € for a DDJ SZ) and +/- 4800 € for a couple of cdj 2000 and DJM 900.
So, i don't have any idea for a good price for a further stand alone Pio controller because i'm not interesting about this kind of product. I prefer have the choise of the software i wanted to use.
Even if it were to be a controller only, the price would still be more than $100 above the cost of the SZ.
for sure :-)
