Cleaning CDJ 2000's

This was a topic that was mentioned before on the old forum but the search function on this board is kinda funky right now and I couldnt find it.

What I remember was Pulse saying dont use things that have ammonia base.  My CDJ 2000's have some finger prints on them and I haven't cleaned them for about.. a month.  They've always been covered (so protected from dust).  But the finger prints have accumulated and I want to clean them.  a slightly damp cloth seems to just smear with the finger oil on the tables.

do you suggest using maybe those monitor wipes or something like that?  (like those cloths you use to clean your glasses)?

What I do is putting a very short spray of Glassex or any window cleaner on a piece of cloth. With that damped cloth I wipe my CDJs/mixer or whatever I want to clean. Never spray cleaner solution directly on your equipment though, it might leak into the housing...

I've made my own cleaner by putting a few drops of green soap, some spiritus (don't know english word) and 95% water in a container with a spray. It cleans all grease but is not aggressive.

Oh, forgot something :

Always use a cotton piece of cloth to wipe your glossy surfaces.

DO NOT USE PAPER TO CLEAN, this might scratch your high glossy surfaces... paper is a lot harder than cotton.

Also don't use any artificial cloths with fibers of polyester etc., just use 100% cotton

I just use a good microfibre cloth. And that's it. Does the trick

I use a spray cleanser which is designed for LCD computer screens and a microfiber cloth.

A lint free cloth will help wipe up any finger prints and dust (if you wear a pair of glasses, use the cleaner that came with them).

For more stubborn dirt, follow Lead's advice - just remember to use liquids very sparingly.

I've been using a small amount of iKleen cleaner with a micro-suede cloth. Works a treat.

I use toilet paper dumped with some water - the best thing I can find anywhere - since I am mobile.... It cleans perfectly, no scratches!
