Browse using Album Artwork?? Kinda like on an iPod Touch...Maybe??

I recognize a track soooo much faster by the album artwork than by everything else combined! I know you can browse like this in a Tag List, and it pops up on the side in regular browsing, But its so small that you could barley distinguish it! what Im saying is like having just the album artwork, being the main feature in this search, kinda like in the iPod touch.  Im just curious if a feature like this will be possible in future firmware? Would make song selection sooooo much easier for me and probably for a lot of people.

@dCzek > I assume you mean scrolling through the artwork on the CDJ using the touch strip... Correct? While I don't envisage it being possible (or being implemented) I will, of course, ask.

Yeah sounds like a cool idea browsing through the entire album art work with the touch strip with full screen viewing.

Really? I never use album artwork. Is it that it would be a cool feature to have or something that is more necessary?

I think a bit of both Gavin. I know the way I normally play is with out planed sets or such. So when I used to play with cd it was really quick flipping though my cd wallet looking at the pictures to to find the next good song. I find now scrolling through text slower. This is not trying to find a certain song just a random next song. Some time I find my self mucking around at home thinking dam I wish I had grabed that song last night I forgot I even had it lol.

I think it would just give a faster summery of your hole collection without having to read through text.

^^^^^ Very true!! IDK, I find tracks A LOT faster using the album artwork. And especially if im just listening to music, on my iPod touch, I just swipe the screen, with album artwork, and I pick up soooo quick when I pass by a track that is good or I like a lot or even if i dislike it or really dislike it, just by looking at the picture. Im not saying that I cant read, but browsing with eyes is much easier to process rather than reading through a track list. I think everyone can agree with that. It would be an amazing feature and id probably us it about 90% of the time. Please implement it

BTW, I dont build playlists either, I pick everything out on the fly, and reading through a track list can be very time consuming and can be stressful at times. Plus, with the artwork I always remember if that track is a good track or if it sucks or if its appropriate for my set. @Gavin, idk if you have an iPod touch, but try it out! im sure you will see how much easier it can be finding, per-say, a certain track or even stumbling upon a track that you didnt even think about. It think a feature like this would open a door to making more creative sets.... but stumbling upon a certain track that wasnt even considered. Think about it =)

I asked for this when the 2000's came out. I'm still waiting. I too use album art a lot, and this would be great if it happened.

Fair enough, I've noted your opinions and I'll raise them again.

@dCzek > Yeah, I have an iPhone and I never scroll by album art. The first thing I do when I download music is edit the tags and categorise the tracks (and that involves removing any tagged artwork).

Cool. It's done when looking at single
Tracks, the album art shows too, but when you go into 'album' to search, you get no 'album' art, just lists of tracks on the right.

The reason I'm used to using album art a lot Is when I used to use cd's. I'd buy a kandi album or something and look for the booklet I'd put in my cd folder with the album art. I'd remember what tracks where where. Now all my cd albums are on my hard drive, I don't recognise album titles like 'Hed Kandi Disco' as there are so Many variations, but I'd know what one i'd want by just seeing the cover.

Still, art display when connected to RB via ProLink should be speeded up. When browsing through the Tag List via link, it takes ages for the covers to be displayed. And there does not seem to be any buffer, so when scrolling back the list the covers need to be reloaded. That is very frustrating. This is not the case if tracks are read from a USB or SD.

So in order for browsing to be doable from RB via link, first engineers should fix the display speed?
