Are they really that bad?

OK after months of testing, research and interest I'm finally selling my 1000's this weekend and really want a set of 2000's. I just want the assurance that all that is wrong now can be fixed with firmware updates? Considering the amount of updates and constant issues I need a firm confirmation that I'm not making a big mistake!

Can anyone restore my faith in a Pioneer product?

Thanks

Richie

Lets put it this way .......

i wouldnt have anythng else.

they still have a few issues and a lot of it is system related but they are working hard to fix them.

to be fair its more people asking for stuff to be added in here rather than people complaining about problems.

people generally only come to the forums if they have an issue or a queery, the amount of units out there far exceed the amount of problems there are with them.

most of the clubs have them now and all the big names are using them so they cant all be wrong.

i love mine to bits.......................

I'd say the same as Pionix: they are not faultless, but there's nothing better either. One thing, if you use master tempo intensively, you might be disappointed by its quality on the 2000's. But everything could/should be fixed by firmware updates...

As Pionix says, "I wouldn't have anything else".  Nor would I.

One thing you should consider though... What really makes the 2000s worth it is how RekordBox works with the decks.  But to access all of those features, you need to be DJing using USB sticks, USB hard disks or direct from your laptop via Pro DJ Link.  Plus if you're a Serato DJ then the 2000s native HID is also a very attractive option.

If you're sticking with CDs, then the 2000s are a very expensive upgrade from the 1000 MK3s.  (Assuming you have MK3s!)

The Pioneer CDJ-1000 (in years past)   and now the CDJ-2000, are the "Technics 1200" of the CD player world.  What else would you get as an alternative?  I personally wouldn't consider anything else when the installed equipment in just about any club is going to be Pioneer.

That said, if you are going to be using CDs, then there isn't enough benefit to upgrading to the 2000s vs. the 1000MK3s.  As Mark90 correctly points out, the primary benefit of the CDJ-2000 is the ability to use media from USB, SD Card or computer link.

Ditto to everyone's opinion. I have no problems with mine what so ever! Sometimes I ask the people having "problems" if they could point out how they get these problems so I could try and replicate them to get an idea of what they are talking about, but for some reason, Im always unable to replicate their problems, lol!

I think the real worry that you might want to consider would be RekordBox... The LINK feature via computer is not so stable, so stick with the sticks, and the program has the potential to be more user friendly (ex: a sync/update device feature) hopefully will come in future updates.

That being said, the 2000's are amazing machines! I wouldn't trade them for anything else!

No they are not that bad, I have had very few problems with them over 2 years, and I use rekordbox via the link and its perfect  99% of the time, Like a few others said if your just using cds or traktor with control cd's, I wouldnt be upgrading, The 1000's mk3 will do the same job

@Mark, lol

@Richie, cdj2000 is a great player. Actually not just player, but multiplayer.

I agree with what has been said in threads above

Take care

They are absolutely fantastic!! The issues are very minor!!! Like anything else in the world, there is always room for improvement. Can I list improvements on these, not really. Get em!!!!!

Whilst they go from one faulty firmware to another and they have a useless MT and a few other niggles, I still love mixing on them. Says it all, I think?

Wow the response to this thread is very encouraging, although I bet a CDJ 2000 MkII is only a few weeks away?

Me too, the only way they could improve it, is to fix all the issues. If they fix the issues then we have perfection, so no need for a mk2

Thanks for all the encouraging comments on this thread. I Sold my CDJ 1000's last night and bought some 2000's. So far I'm chuffed to bits (I should be for the price)

Now then, should I upgrade the firmware? They are on 4.04 at the mo and I'm not having the Master Tempo drift like I did when I tested them out before. I'm assuming the next version of firmware is the one that's worse? Please can someone confirm. Thanks
