400e to replace the USB port. I think some one is pulling a fast one. I had a problem with some of my hard drives which have the same USB port and it cost me £30 to have a new one put on. I think the USB is part of the main assembly PCB, one of the most expensive parts so the shop is probably replace
Ing the whole board whereas a computer repair shop could probably replace the port as it doesn't sound as if the board itself is damaged, just the port. There been othe user who have reported the same problem, make you wonder about the quality

Cdj 900 rear USB fault
Hi it has been 3 weeks since my Cdj 900s have been sent to a repair shop in Galway ireland after a night I was djayin my Cdj suddenly stopped playin and wouldn't connected to my laptop during one of the busiest nights if the year for me. I was left having to thumb for a lift back up home because it was that busy to get my ddj ergo as a back up to finish my set with. The nxt day I tried to reconnect my cdjs one linked up great through rear USB (HID) and the other Rear USB would not connect to my laptop. I checked the two cdjs for differences a d online photos and found that there is no black clips in my rear usbs just 4 bear connections..I rang pioneer and asked for there help and a person called Barry was on the phone to me, he said they would have to be repaired, but my warranty is up over a year and now 5 months, I asked of there's anything pioneer can do for me since I'm a loyal customer buying Cdj 400s djm 400's and 700's and two Cdj 900's and considering buying 2 Cdj 2000's now, my local repair shop have been back in contact with Galway and they say it was me that damaged the usbs they have never been out of the case and suddenly one stopped working and find it weird that two of the rear ports are missing the clips. It's an estimate that it could cost 400e for the repair and at the minute a I cannot afford it cause I'm missing out on gigs. Would really appreciate if someone can help me at pioneer.

Yeh That was just an estimate, its part of the main board and thats the reason why it has such a high repair price, the usb itself wont even connect to my laptop no link option at all (doesnt display connected), according to pioneer they never came across this problem before but searching the net i have come across rear usb problems alot but more on the 2000's and cdj 900. Im just not happy that im been told it was my fault my cdj faulted, when i looked at the two players there was no black clip on either cdj around the usb port and im thinkin it mite of been like this from day one. just hoping pioneer will do me a favour as when i talked to them they said as a good will jesture they would consider repairing them for free as im a loyal customer but now im been left having to pay for repair which i cant afford at the minute.
The boards are about £375 but a replacement port is about £4. It solders on via 4 pins so if the board is good I know where I'd take it. Like I said above my local computer shop replaced my ports on my hard drive for £30. They should be the same type B ports that are on the CDJ

Well im getting in contact with pioneer again to find out the total cost of repair for this will be going on 4 weeks now without my decks and losing out on gigs because of it. if its to much ill take your advice into consideration. Thanks
All items sold should be fit for purpose and last a resonable amount of time, and that goes beyond the standard 12 months guarantee. Personally for a £1000 plus item I'd expect it to last some time. Remeber there are actions you can take before you have to pay for repairs, there are consumer protection laws.

You can contact Pioneer technical support via the links on the right to either arrange with a Pioneer service centre or authorized repair shop near you to do the work. The amount of time depends on how busy the shop is, what the problem is and if a part is required, how long it takes to have a replacement delivered and installed. Estimates are just that -- estimates. Always ask for a firm price on the repair before any work is done.
That said, this is a Pioneer official forum and we can not allow users to post information on modifying / repairing / disassembling any Pioneer equipment, so this thread must now be locked.
