Integrate CDJ-900 over LAN into home network

Hello dear forum,

is it possible, to integrate the CDJ 900 over "Pro DJ-Link" into my home network ? There runs a win server 2011 dhcp server. If i connect the CDJs to my LAN enviroment, can i use rekrodbox or is it impossible to connect the CDJs to a home LAN?

Best regards

DJ Wile C

@Wile C > what are you trying to achieve through that configuration?

Is the rekordbox database on the server?

You are better off to keep your CDJ setup on its own network.

Yes you cn connect all pro dj gear to your home network. I've got my tracks on my NAS and can use Rekordbox as inbetween interface. While stuff like sharing usb between 2 players also still works

@Gavin: I want to connect my laptop simultaneously with the CDJs, so I can use my laptop via Rekorbox and simultaneously send an audio stream to my audio server on my LAN to the Internet.

@JJ Dekker: I would test it ;)

Got it running tihs way, 2 CDJ 900 on the same switch as the laptop an the NAS, The content of the Rekordbox library is physically located on the NAS, loading a file in RekordBox plays it on the CDJ, did not try to load Rekordbox files via CDJ interface.

@JJ Dekker: Do you use for your connection a switch or a hub ?!?

@JJ Dekker: okay, and do the CDJ obtain an ip adress ?? Or do you run a dhcp-server ?

no, don't see them as devices on the network in the router webpage, however pro link seems to work? (Rekordbox sees link)

Hello,

how did you get the problem solved by the broadcast storms, so do not go on the entire network? With VLAN?

@Wile > Its obviously up to you to run these how you want but I wouldn't recommend such a setup - it may not be stable. The CDJs really aren't designed to be integrated into a local network but run on their own network.

but how can i play my music on the nas with my cdjs and rekordbox over my lan, if the cdjs and the laptop are not in the same IP range as the servers ?

At the moment my CDJs are connected to the laptop via a switch, which is connected to my LAN. The laptop and the CDJs get the IP from DHCP and then the CDJs connected in a VLAN.

Could not be included in a future firmware update for the CDJ define the IP fixed? Is it a good idea? :))

@Wile C > I'll bring this thread to the attention of the engineers but, like I said, the setup is intended to run on its own network.

For a better idea: I have a network in my studio environment. Inside is my DJ console. Well it was so that the laptop must be located so as CDJs on the same network, so ProDJ link works.

But my audio files are located on a nas, which is of course in the studio network and this is of course not the same network as the CDJs.

So I can play my audio files from the NAS via Rekordbox to have the CDJs, DJM, and the laptop in the same IP range as the nas are.

The other problem would be the broadcasts that go heaps over the network, caused by the CDJs.

I know there is problem a luxury. But I've been looking for a small router to separate the networks from each other ...

In a similar vein, it is expected that rekordbox would be working from an internal drive rather than a server. I understand what you are trying to achieve and I will relay these comments.
