Why would you want to use the needle search while the track is live?

Search faster with the cue'd CDJ.

Ipad ?/ Search?

Amen to your first request S-type I've been banging on about that since RB first came out !!!

I'd also like to be able to expand / shorten the beat grids on the decks as a simple moving of them is not enough and frankly a little useless

Gavin - I think the needle search would be when your cueing and not live as such and I too think that would very useful do you can simply scan though to familiarise yourself with the track

I requested this feature about 2-3 years ago and was hoping it would be on the nexus and still no luck.  A few months ago I mentioned the on the fly quantized needle drop search that can be usefull for all types of reasons.  Better searching, remixing capabilities, be able to drop cue up on the fly, for example your playing a track then when you feel like you want to mix the track and did not set up a hot cue you can just press the needle search to the specific point of a track area such as an outro or break down and it will snap to the closest beat and stay quantized.  

If accuracy is a problem then having the needle search show a line on the track layout when pressing the needle search strip then when you see the line where you want it on the track layout you let go of the needle search strip then it will drop to that point.  So instead of pressing the needle search to jump in a track it will wait till you let go of the needle search to make the jump either way I think it something pioneer should have listened and implemented along time ago.  Hopefully they will I sent some suggestions a while back so will see if a firmware update will make this possible.
