Using CDs

So I've seen a lot of my favorite DJs using only CDs - it doesn't appear that they have a USB or SD card connected to the CDJ which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because whenever I've used only CDs, it takes the BPM a while to load, and sometimes the BPM reading isn't remotely accurate. is it possible these world renowned DJs are working like this? seems really inconvenient. but maybe im missing something. can you analyze files in record box and burn those to a CD or somethin?

a lot of them use CDs because it's the most reliable.

The old school house guys still mostly use CDs

for old school style straight mixing, who needs BPMs etc.

(Louie Vega, Ron Trent, etc...)

A lot of people use CDs because there is a risk when you get to a club they don't have the CDJ-2000s.

But honestly, even if you have CDs as a back-up.... it makes sense to me to have a USB stick with the music prepared in Rekordbox.  It's so much better to use the players that way.

Old school DJ's & Laptop DJ's , i think NO ONE is much than the other, in the end it's all about enjoy your music and have a great time.

If someone prefers play music from an USB pendrive, great! it's ok, i love the old fashion way, i prefer uncompressed audio-CD, CD-Singles and all that kind of stuff.

Maybe You can call that inconvenient, i call it "my way to enjoy music!"

It's just my point of view.

@Reggie > Its important to remember that a lot of these world famous DJs have pre-planned their sets before they go on tour and it has possibly taken them quite some time to get these sets ready. Technology may have updated in the mean time and its not always possible that they can react straight away. I'm sure you will see many more migrating from CDs soon - again, a lot also depends on the setup available in the venue.
