CDJ-2000 Nexus issues

Here is a link to a video describing some of the issues I've encountered on my pair of CDJ-2000 Nexus players (note the phase meter).

Video was shot using 1.10 firmware. In the context of the video, the only difference between that and the current firmware is sync functionality when looping (non slip) - sync can now be manually re-triggered while the loop is still active.

I've explained some of the issues some time ago in an e-mail to which there was no response. I find this unacceptable, considering the high end nature of the product.

could you please describe in short words what is wrong and how we can create this issue on our decks ?

We have a guinea pig on the forum who knows everything about the decks...he can tell you if this is normal.

Shout at him by using the name Brichi

Short version:

1. When in slip mode (with quantize on!), trigger reverse and loop (via needle search strip) at the same time.

2. Short looping (under 1 beat) is no longer synced in real time.

Long version:

1. When reverse is triggered at the same time as loop in slip mode with quantize on (and if i remember correctly, it helps if loop is triggered for odd number of playbacks) it offsets the track for the length of the loop. Sync sometimes corrects the problem. I've had the same thing happen to me a few times when using only loop in slip mode, but it's not repeatable, so i couldn't get it on video. Last time I checked, the issue was 100% repeatable (on my units at least). Sometimes the loop doesn't even trigger (see 0:46).

2. Short looping (under 1 beat) used to sync OK when doing it on slave (albeit there could have been some pause in the playback), but now, you have to be very precise with your timing which is not always possible due to less than optimal responsiveness of the needle search strip. As stated in the original post, sync can be manually re-triggered when using 1.11 firmware. I know this is probably a feature (to prevent playback pauses), but sync should be reengaged automatically at least if you elongate the loop to one beat or more, otherwise it's pretty much useless (in terms of quantized looping).

Yes, plus some additional (but not repeatable, so I didn't post them here) issues with slip mode:
1. Once, the slip mode didn't work at all (the slip mode indicator on platter display stopped) when hot cueing, looping, reversing, stopping, scratching etc. regardless of the quantize function. Slip mode functioned normally once I restarted the unit. I have some of this on video.
2. Once, when slip looping (quantize was on, if I remember correctly, not sure) slip loop (engaged via needle search strip) didn't start from the position it was triggered, but from previous cue. Another time (also once), instead of the selected loop, I got an extremely short one. A colleague that used one of my units for a recent gig also reported "weird slip loop functionality".
