interesting! I will have to try this as well and see if i got the same issue

Follow[SOLVED] Identical CDJ350 plays music at different speed
Hi I am wondering if someone can shed some light on this, or whether this is normal and just due to electrical component tolerance.
I have two Cdj350 using two identical USB sticks with exactly the same folders and content on them both. I have a DJM350 mixer.
I noticed that if I play the exact same track on both or the cdj's from the start they will gradually drift out of sync even though they are both playing at exactly the same speed. The BPM registers exactly 120 or 125 or whatever speed the track is but they are exactly the same on both units. However the tracks drift.
I just started a 6 minute song and after a few minutes it's obvious that one is slower than the other.
Is this to be expected? Have only owned these a week and I'm trying to self-learn. I did the above because I found that just at the spot where I'm bringing the next track in, I can hear it's out but at this point I struggle because you can hear any changes I make.
Thanks in advance

So I asked this question last week, what happens now?
just tried it with mine using one track on two usb sticks, i got perfect match for the whole track, no drifting.
although i did find that one of the players has a slightly less lower sound than the other... i guess its the small things that make them unique :)
but a difference in playback speed is a total nightmare! if i were you id call tech support
Hi,
Some things to check;
Do you have both units set to the same pitch range. i.e. 6%, 10% etc.
Are you just matching the bpm's, or are you actually using identical pitch settings ? I would recomend, ignoring the BPM counter and setting both pitches to center 0 exactly and retesting.
If you're just matching BPM's then the two units could report the same BPM with a slightly difference in pitch. Also turn off master tempo, it sounds awful on 350 and can affect the timing of your tracks.
Are the tracks VBR encoded? Do you have the pitch off 0% with the MT enabled?
There are plenty of reasons the tracks would vary, but we need a few details.
What I did first was play both tracks at 0 pitch at 6%, but they were both at the zero setting so the % shouldn't matter.. I did another test, I transferred the music to the USB sticks using Rekordbox and I made sure the track I selected was not VBR. The next time I did this, both tracks played out to the end with no drift at all. I can't remember what track I did the first test with but may be it was a variable bit rate track and this throws it off?
MT shouldn't come into it if the track is at 0 pitch anyway? But I have had it so that the pitch doesn't change the key of the track.
You'd be amazed at the small things that can make a big difference!
I'll mark this thread as solved, if you happen upon this problem again, make note of the track used and we can investigate further. Thanks!
