[OPEN] Can't scratch/spin back on CDJ2000 Nexus

I have just bought a CDJ2000 Nexus and I am unable to spin back, manually cue or scratch, I am in vinyl mode, is this a fault with the unit or some obscure setting I may bue overlooking?

If vinyl is on and you cannot scratch, it sounds like a faulty unit. Return for a new one.

Annoy as I have only got this as a replace for a CDJ2000 which the latter became faulty on, thankfully it was still in warranty.

My word spelling was all over the place there, it was meant to say platter, i'm really liking the features on the nexus actually, some nice refinements as well.

yeah, the Nexus' are great if you utilize Rekordbox for library management

probably just a posse cable or sensor inside, definitely swap out quick for a replacement

Yeah i've been using rekordbox for a while with the CDJ2000's , so all music is ready to go. Yeah i've just noticed the side of the platter is not working either, so it definitely something related to forward/reverse motion.

that sucks, cable probably came loose,

RB is great, I love using it over serato, it needs some work but it's good live for now

Right I have sent the unit back to the shop, and they say there is no fault with the unit! I know for a fact there was, I have been a DJ for nearly two decades and been surrounded by hardware in studios for nearly as long!

If I pressed down on the platter it stopped, the break/touch sensitivity worked here as well, however the side of the platter did not change tempo, so I was unable to 'push' music into phase with master deck. I was unable to cue the first beat, spin back or scratch (all forward/backwards motions).

I tried many troubleshooting exercises, including; several USB devices and CDs, unlinking ethernet, switching unit on/off, checking firmware, the only things I did not try was using mp3s (I use Wav/Aiff) and I was using digital out (into DJM900Nexus) but I really do not think either of them things would have made any difference!

The shop has reported that there is no fault, and want to send the uni back to me, I know the fault was there, and I know it was not a user error, I am pretty convinced there could not be a user error that would even generate such conditions.

Would could be the issue then? BriChi has suggested a loose cable, which seems to be the most likely, but the shop are saying it works fine there, could it be a loose connection that is intermittent, is there any other fault possibilities?

they probably never tested the pitch bending or put it into "Service mode" which only tests fill platter movement, not the difference between a platter scratch vs side bend.

I can try and test it later in service mode and see if it differentiates a pitch bend vs a scratch

in service mode you can tell the difference between scratching and pitch bending, when scratching it shows something like "switch active"  I believe, could be different wording but you will see the difference

unfortunately I cannot tell you though how to get into service mode or I will get yelled out I'm sure, lol... Google it and I am sure something will pop up

@DJ Dark Energy > Sorry to hear about the problem not getting resolved on the first time through service -- did you send it to Pioneer proper or an authorized shop?
