No, RB only shows the waveform of a track loaded within it's internal player
Hi Pioneer,
can rekordbox on the pc/mac already show the live waveform while dj'ing with the aero ?
i'm choosing between an aero and an sx and this is important for me. (an ipad waveform would be good to of course ;), but here it's clear it's not working )
cheers

Thanks for that reply !
Guess the choice will be very hard.... :(
definitely a tough call, good luck! me personally if I was not linked into the whole RB thing, I would stick with Serato and get the SX, Looks like a cool controller, although I personally like bigger decks like the 2000's
I like 2000's for in the clubs too, but just to use at home it's a little bit overkill... so ddj-sx, most definitely the most awesome pioneer controller but when you go to play at clubs you always need to prepare your music twice (rb & serato) or take your controller with you... :(
exactly, i had to do that for a little bit but for the last 2 years or so i have been strictly RB, organizing serato and RB was a pain but I made the decision to go the RB route
so guess that leaves me with the aero if i don't want to spent 4 times the price on a seperate mixer & 2 cdj's... :) hmmmm
but no waveforms ! shame on you pioneer ;) lol
I agree, they should implement waveforms at least from the iPad on the tracks loaded to decks
I need waveforms :) Please Please add these waveforms to the iPad version :( maybe even make a PRO version i would pay an extra £60 a PRO version of the app with this feature.
If pioneer add this feature then the XDJ AERO will be the best all in one controller around.
I also own an Aero but I´m thinking about a change on account of some of the restrictions mentioned in this and other threads, ie:
no waveforms either in the (basic) Aero screen or the Rekordbox (call it PC, Mac, Ipad, Iphone or whatever)
No CUEs support (maybe the biggest drawback I find)
I really don't quite get it, I don't think that Pioneer left this out just to avoid competing with the PRO equipment (CDJ and the like) because they really don't compete, one is a portable system in the boundaries between the PRO and the enthusiast (leaned a bit towards the enthusiast in my opinion) and the other is a top notch PRO equipment. I don't see someone who was about to buy a NEXUS set (2 CDJs and a mixer) buying instead an Aero... not even if it had cue support, waveforms, and a color screen.. I feel it's like saying that FIAT doesn´t sell cars with leather seats and a sporty look because they still want to sell FERRARI... On the other hand I see this as an opportunity for other brands to fill in the gaps. Just my opinion though. (I've already posted this in another thread, only that I'd like to make this as public as possible, I really like the AERO and would rather prefer to see this addressed than having to change to another brand...)
Guys,
I have AERO for a while now and I'm not finding the lack of the waveform beeing a big problem for me. When you listen your tracks carefully and count beats than breaks shouldn't surprise you. Most of the tracks have breaks in the similar time so it is just a matter or practise. As dj Tutor is saying: " Practise and enjoy!" :)
Waveform is a great tool to make you sets perfect but a perfect set, for me, is not great to listen. Soon the sets will no differ from music could be automixed by computers. It is also a great help for young djs who don't know how to count, but on the other hand they may never learn if they use it whole the time.
I'm guessing that Pioneer engineers probably expected that the Rekorbox will be developed well enough at the stage of releasing AERO and will have the waveform but they had delays with software development. I'm guessing that who really needs the waveform will need to wait patiently for Rekordbox uprate or switch to SX and laptop. I'm enjoying AERO without it as I have learnt to count beats and I'm not finding the waveform to be essential for me.
I just home the will repair some bugs of the firmware I was mentioning before as it takes them ages to do it.
