MP3 and AIFF are fine, just make sure your MP3'a are CBR and not VBR. All of the pioneer decks I have used struggle with VBR

Follow[SOLVED] XDJ R1 USB Issues and files
What files are compatible with the R1?
I am running music from Rekordbox on a USB drive.
Some songs will play fine on the R1 and others will freeze it up so badly I have to turn it off and on again.
I am running mp3 and AIFF files?
They run in rekordbox fine and on serato DJ software fine....

I just had to switch my .aiff files to mp3 to get the R1 to play them. These were aiff files bought off beatport
Not a single .aiff file will play on this XDJ R1 via USB.
I have 100s of .aiff files from digitizing CDs and from beatport. So they can't be played on this DJ console via USB? When I convert them to MP3 they play fine. SO I need to convert them all?In the manual it says AIFF can be played...this is weird?
When I load an AIFF file the platter lights up and blinks, the screen given me the name and BPM, but the deck is frozen and you can't even search or use the other deck as well. Everything is frozen and nothing can be used. I think this is what is causing the crashes all together. Can someone look into this?
try deleting the album art and trying again, especially Beatport tracks, they are notorious for dodgy album artwork
@Brichi - is there a way to do that in rekordbox?
yes, being the files are on the usb drive, plug it in, open RB, go to device, browse the devices tracks you want to delete the are from, click on the track, click on info pane on the left and you will see an area to add/delete album artwork
DELETING artwork did absolutely nothing.
Files will not play and freeze the deck. If I convert an AIFF to a MP3 they work.
I have AIFF files from Beatport and ones I ripped from CD using titanium toast and itunes.
I don't get it? Is anyone else having this issue?
Does this USB work when playing on other decks? It could be a slow thumb drive, but the decks should pop up an error message when they get a buffer underrun (unless there's a bug with the error routine)
16GB Toshiba Transmemory which I know is slow
8gb Sandisk Cruzer
I will try my little hard drive tonight to see if that works - it is a fast drive.
@jobushwick > Can you send me the problematic AIFF file? The engineers wish to investigate.
Here is a track example that won't play
https://www.yousendit.com/download/WFJVeUNERndtMExtcXRVag
Please note that this song is for product testing and not distribution
Tested with a 150GB drive and no AIFF files will play on that either.
@jobushwick > Where do you get your tracks from / do you encode them yourself?
Beaport. Downloaded from their site then put in rekordbox.
Does it play? @gavin
@jobushwick > They should - I'm going to check the tracks and forward them to the engineers also.
@jobushwick > Following the engineers investigation, they have been able to replicate the issue caused by this AIFF file. They would like to apologise for the inconvenience and advise that this will be sorted in the next firmware update. They wish to advise against using your AIFF files for the time being and that you may delete the download from YouSendIt as they have created a local copy.
