With the display (and only when it will work), i will buy this unit.

C'mon guys...you bundle the unit with VDJ LE but cannot give them the permission to use the display on the unit so the end user does not have to stare at the laptop looking at the remaining time of the track? Why even bother to ship it with the software?
I'm a PRO user of VDJ. This unit is something I have been waiting for...all-in-one..decks that read audio and data cds, usb thumb drive, and midi capabilities to use with various DJ software including your own Rekordbox. I am NO bedroom DJ (mobile & club).
Is the display issue something that will be addressed in a future update or shall I return the unit and call it a day?
After finding the MEP-7000 to be unreliable with mobile gigs (the cd drives would always go out of alignment and would not give back the cd or give an error after loading the disc) I told myself that was "it" for Pioneer products but then the XDJ-R1 came around and so I jumped in again. I really love the unit (minus the display issue with VDJ..and it is NOT a VDJ issue...it is you guys did not give them proper permission to use the display).
You'll have to forgive me as I just don't understand the logic behind blocking VDJ from using the display but yet ship the unit with VDJ LE. Most of your other products allow them to use the display...c'mon!

You talking to me, Kiki? I hope not because if you are you are really showing your ignorance! Drop the labels man. They don't make who you are. I buy the $10 dollar general blue jeans..why? Because that is money saved for other things and I don't want to get my good clothes caked in cigarette smoke from the clubs I'm not going to post my resume here as I have nothing to prove to you but trust me when I say I have the experience and I am 100% comfortable using VDJ in large nightclubs either with controllers or time code cds. Using VDJ does not stop me from getting the gigs either.
CDs are important to me as it is called having a backup! This unit is great for mobile gigs...if laptop experiences an issue, which to usb thumb drive or data/audio cds.
LOL
I love VDJ especially for some of the amazing features it has that some software has not.
Its internet connectivity and access to online 'cloud' type music database is very useful
I feel very loyal towards it, but also I am feeling like I am moving away from using software
Thats why a really agree with DJKIKI about the aero. I had one at launch and loved it, with the exception of hotcue omission. It's a joy to use for my type of show and no need to bother with a computer if not wanted.
I ebayed it and am today my R1 will arrive. Bought my ipad a couple of weeks ago, so tonight I will be rocking the house and if alls well playing out with it all weekend.
Well I'm not surprised there has been silence from a Pioneer person regarding my initial post.
Regarding Aero...I did my research on what I needed...Aero did not fit that. I needed something to replace the MEP-7000 and if you would have read up on that you would have realized it was also a dual CD player much like the XDJ-R1 so thanks for adding fluff to the thread. :P
Tried my xdj r1 last night and it works great
I Like having ipad control
Plus cd drives too
Although having had 30 yrs of mobile and club experience I always have a backup.
