[CLOSED] XDJ-R1 1.09 Not all right

Hello. I also have many problems with the device, but the moderators haven't accepted my topic yet (for months now), so I decided to write it here.

I've just bought an XDJR1 controller with 1.07, but I have some problems with it.

• Loops' and effects' beats and BPM (with and without quantize, too): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmBsM-ekRA8
  As you can see in the following video it also miscounts the BPM of the tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CYAkhIr5nQ
  I've tried I with many tracks, but mostly there was the same problem. (Somewhere it miscounted it with 0,2 BPM, somewhere 2, etc.)
  (I haven't used Recordbox, yet.)
  

• I can't hear the echo effect in headphones. (The other 3 beats effects can be heard.)

• The disc ejecting takes 3 times more time than with a CDJ200 or 100s.

• The wide pitch mode isn't available with USB mode.

-  Sampler has priority problems. E.g. While the 1st sampler is being played, and I press and hold the 2nd or 3rd button (on the same deck), the 1st is still playing until I release the first. BUT when the 3rd is being played and I press the 1st or 2nd, the 1st or 2nd immediately starts playing.

• I miss the fast search buttons, because it is more difficult to search in the track with only 1 hand. (As you can see in the video.)

• When I’m using the noise effect, and turn it from left to center, I still hear noise, but this doesn’t happens when I turn it from right to center.

• How can I export my tracks’ Recordbox analysing info to my folders on my usb drive? (I tried exporting my tracks with recordbox, but it created many folders and subfolders, which I don't want. I also tried exporting playlists, but i couldn't find them on the device)

Hi Fabio Mandity: Did you already Update to the 1.09 Firmware? You keep whit the same problems?

@Osua > Sorry for the system not accepting your post; we had a LOT of spam (like over 4200 items) and as posted in the news section, we had to wipe out all items, including some legitimate posts, from the queue. Thanks for posting again.

To address a couple of your questions:

• the hotcue loading is designed this way by nature so you can have hotcues from OTHER songs loaded to those points, allowing for more creative DJing performance

• I don't have an R1 on hand 

- the headphone monitoring is pre-fader, echo effect is post-fader, which is why you can only hear it in the master cue

• the jog illumination is not able to be changed, hence the lack of description in the manual

• the wandering BPM in the player display is likely due to the fact the hardware is analysing the tempo regardless of the rekordbox data source - this is by nature because of the players' ability to load CDs which do NOT have rekordbox data associated with them

What are some of the items you feel aren't covered in the user manual?

@Fabio > Answers for you:

• Use rekordbox as the BPM analysis is done on-the-fly on the player itself. Having stored data will still show the display as the realtime measurement but the effects will be quantized to the rekordbox beatgrid data. You'll find you'll have no problems with the looping after using rekordbox.

• echo effect item answered above

• do you mean the amount of time it takes to eject a CD takes 3x longer?

• wide mode is not available with USB because of the processing required to decode a USB and stretch it out to those extreme amounts (this is exactly why on some other units when in USB mode, the pitch max range on wide switches to 50% instead of 100% for CDs)

• I had not heard of that sampler problem, I'll pass it to the engineers

• you can still search with one hand - hold the SHIFT button with your thumb and whirl the jog around with your fingers - not quite as convenient, but it still does the trick

• I'll pass the noise issue along to the engineers as well.

• use two different devices for your USB exports if you're using rekordbox; do not export it to a previously used USB device as you'll wind up seeing extra stuff on there - see the support videos for more information on exporting

Hi Pulse: Thanks about the answers! But I keep having the same question about the QUANTIZE:

The quantize function not match fine Hot Cues in the first beat even analyzed in Rekordbox, is not precisse!! If turn off the quantize and match it manually is right, but turning on is not match correctly, when you push the hot cue in the first beat it starts in the second one... I dont understand.. Quantize is not to ajust to the first beat? So is not working fine..

About the user manual, I just download the last one fron PioneerDJ.com and I cant see where is about the jog light...

There is a longer user manual one? Where? Just 40 pages?

The Quantize function of Hot Cues work perfect on Rekordbox... But after some check jeep not working fine in xdj-r1....

Dicono che il cambiamento di BPM è perché l'hardware è continuamente analizzando il tempo indipendentemente dal fatto se l'origine dati di Rekordbox. Essi fare in modo che quando si carica un CD senza Rekordbox dati vedere il BPM che ha...A me questo non sembra giusto... è la mia opinione.

They say that the change of the BPM is because hardware is continuously analyzing the time regardless of  the data source's of Rekordbox. They do this so that when you load a CD without Rekordbox data see the BPM that has...To me this does not seem right... is my opinion.

i have some problem as well with the XDJ-R1 firmware 1.09 when i connect the technics SL1200 to the mixer and turn it into phono mode the sound is very low and cannot perform a mix.

Sorry to don't create a new topic but my question has a link with the question of Osua regarding the jog light.

I just bought the XDJ-R1 and I don't understand why it can not be modify to make it blink when the remaining time is under 30 seconds.

I could see that the light is switched off and switched on again when the XDJ-R1 is loading the next track.

It means that it could be possible to make it blink at the end of track (like does the CDJ2000 if I am not wrong).

It is possible to know why it will not be added on the XDJ-R1 ?

I agree with u guys with hot cues under quantize function, it doesn't work with accuracy. Only works fine if you deactivate quantize, but you loose perfect loops at the same time. On the other side, when i try to CALL hot cues, At the blinking status, it demands 1 or 2 seconds to start the cue. If i am working with this current track i can't CALL the hot cues after is playing, because i have a silence of 1 or 2 seconds.
Pulse, i have read your Answer about WIDE tempo range in USB devices, but why XDJ Aero works with WIDE tempo since the tracks are read wirelessly? It doesn't make sense.
In my case i'm not sure if Pitch effect is working well, it sounds with great distortions like splitting the beats, when i pitch up or down. Could i watch a video testing this effect?

There Is a way to auto-call all the hot cues of the track when you load the track. In Rekordbox in every tracks of the collection there is a box (HOT CUE) that if you switch on, when you load this track on XDJ-R1 its auto call ALL the hot cues of the track at the same time... So is faster...

I never use quantitize and my loops are 100% accurate. Just by analyze the track on rekordBox...  However I have now a issue with loops,  check the other thread I've opened.

Ik volg alle instructies op zoals aangeven op deze site. Op mijn display blijft ( DOWNLOAD) staan maar er gebeurd al een half uur niks. Dit al 10 x geprobeerd. Zelf USB geformatteerd ect ect.

Hoe kan dit?  Er staat dat het niet langer dan 6 minuten za duren

Currently i'm not able to update the firmware or try the recordbox thing (the device isn't at my hand), but i'll write the changes here (about bpm), as soon as i'll manage to update it.

I think the echo effect shouldn't work like that. The other 3 effects can be heard on the headphones fine. If you'll forward this issue to the engineers (or anyone who has an R1 on hand), i'm sure, they'll find this and issue, too. :)

Yes, exaxtly. I got used to my CDJ 100s and 200s i had before and find it very slow.

The shift+jog thing was just a notice, i think the search buttons sholudn't have removed. :)

I found an other problem last week:

It wrote E-8301 (if i remember well) for a track on my usb, and i couldn't play it. Now i checked the track at home (in winamp), and it has APEv2 tags. I don't know what's that for.  May be that was the error's reason.

I am having problems updating my XDJ Aero to any new firmware, I can get it to upload it into my device, but its still showing Version 8.81?? is there something wrong, and where can I get it fixed?

with update 1.09 i have 2 problems.

in one session i play, the right deck in 2 times, have vinyl behavior without vinyl on button.

and all of the mp3s (without recordbox analyse) the bpm's constantly changing all the time they play per sec....128.7  128.8  128.7  128.6  128.7.

And the result is all the mix be incorrect.

p.s i dont trust recorbox analyse....every time i use playlist from recorbox the mixer freese.

I successfully updated the device, but i didn't found it useful, the bpm counter is still not accurrate, just as John Markis said. When i load in a track it usually writes 127,5 or 128,5 (instead of 128) and during playback it changes (127,4...127,8..., etc)

the update 1.09 is for bpm's accurate....pioneer say...

in my controller, the 1.08 have stable bpm's and the 1.09 have not.

why pioneer give us this problematic update? and dont fix the freeze problem, or other?

i hope the team of pioneer to have taken it very seriously about all this.

Because Pioneer sold us the machine from technical defects. I cheated us ... The firmware has improved eight months ... Great engineers from Pioneer, who for eight months could not fix anything ... We need to publicize this matter, so nobody bought it no more!

In Poland, an authorized service no service instructions and give the machine saying that they can not fix it, and so all the time.

In regards of Bpm problems, i've never had bpm movements in rekordbox analyzed tracks incluiding 1.09 firmware.

What do u think about Pitch effect? Does it sound pretty good for you?

For anyone who know or has got Pioneer CDJs, does WIDE tempo range activate operating with USB disks in these devices?

I got some info back from the engineers...

I was incorrect with one of my assumptions - if the audio source is from rekordbox, the tempo is consistent with the value which was calculated in rekordbox. It is not read from the audio unless the source is not rekordbox-based.

Unfortunately the JOG illumination in XDJ-R1 can not be changed to flash like the CDJ-2000 does with "track and warning".  While the unit is turned on, the JOG illumination is always lit unless a track is being loaded, where the jog illumination flashes to indicate the load function.

@Fabio asked about the sampler and yes, there is a priority in sampler buttons. The priority in the order from highest to lowest is A > B > C.  If you press more than 1 button simultaneously, the unit detects only 1 button which is assigned at the highest priority of the pressed buttons.

A Pioneer engineer says that when he turns the color knob 'from left to center' and 'from right to center', he can't hear noise at any cases and can't reproduce the issue.  Could you tell us the version number of Firmware in your XDJ-R1 ?  Could you give or post a Video to us where we can see this issue ?

When the filename is changed from "xdj_0105.bin" to a different one, even very slightly, Ver 8.81 is displayed on the screen of XDJ-R1.

I've been following this thread since the beginning because I have done much research on this model and REALLY want to purchase one... until I found out about all the problems people have been having with it.  I am buying this because I am new to DJing as a hobby and would like something like this to start learning and experimenting.  As soon as issues are fixed with the BPM match and the hotcue I will be sure to purchase as I am not well funded enough to afford a pair of CDJ2000s ... but it would be nice.  I will keep checking back for updates in this thread and for firmware updates as well, and as soon as everything is a go, I will surely be a happy buyer =D

In my case after analize in rekordbox the bpm the tempo is not consisten, it change like i told you.

About the pitch effect i don like... And the wide is not activate in USB mode, just in cd

I just bought the R1, did the 1.09 update and I have the same!:

1. the hot cues are not correct/accurate. if you push a hot cue quickly a few times it even changes/floates

2. the bpm is not accurate, a 127bpm track is now 126.4 for example

I bought it especially because it has hot cues! so please make an update quickly !! ( i had 1000mk3 and 850)
