XDJ R1 Loud Hiss

Hi

I have purchased a new pair of high quality powered speakers (Yamaha DXR 15s) and when i use them with the XDJ R1 there is a really loud hiss coming from the speakers. I have tried a standard cheap mixer and the hiss was no where near as loud as when using it with the R1. Do you think the unit could be faulty? ie dodgy output stage as it even does it with the master and channel gains set to zero.

Thanks

Hi Mel,

Thanks for your reply. Yep it's only when using the balanced outputs, if I plug my speakers into a separate mixer and then run from the booth or main phono outputs into the mixer there is not an issue. I really need to find out what is wrong as the hiss is so loud that when the music is low it can be heard over the music. I do a lot of weddings and I have one coming up where I am supplying background music throughout the wedding breakfast and also microphone hire for speeches. I really need this sorted out urgently.

Can anyone help with this? do you think I have a faulty unit? I know Mel has the same problem but does anyone else? what do you suggest Gavin or Pulse?

Thanks

Did you try to connect R1 to a different electric plug without nothing in the middle.. Seems to be an ground problem..

Luca - this has nothing to do with the power outlet, as it has happened at various venues.

I have never experienced this ground noise loop before until i introduced the XDJ-R1 into my setup.

Being a loyal pioneer customer for many years, i am very disappointed in the R1, its not the usual pioneer quality and reliability i have been a customed too.

Im now faced with being without my XDJ-R1 for a number of weeks so this and the right deck fault can be "looked at" with no guarantee the issue will be resolved or me even getting my unit replaced. Even though many people have experienced the right deck issue.

Gavin / Pulse - is there anything that can be done with these right deck issues, as my dealer did not have clue about the problem and said that he has a process to follow.

Just to add i have checked my XLR cables are working perfectly and have even replaced them as test, with no luck.

well I have spoken to a few people now that have said their units are silent so mine is going in for repair next week. They said on thephone that they never knew of this issue so they best not say there is not an issue when there definitely is one.

I have the same problem with mine. I have a friend who also has one with same problem. I tought that it was designed in this way as it not a pro gear.

SZ has also the same trouble. We tried by putting a hum eliminator or a direct box, without success. Yes. It is a loud hiss. not a ground loop sound.

Cheers
