XDJ RX Mac OS Extended Issues (Rekordbox Database Not Found)

I am still having issues when I upload my playlists onto my pen drive were the drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). When I plug my pen drive in I am getting an error message saying 'Rekordbox Database Not Found' Yet when I plug the same drive into a CDJ 2000 all the playlists are there !!!

I prefer to use this format for the fact that when you scroll through tracks at speed using the search button and jog wheel simultaneously, its seems to be much more responsive than if the drive is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT). Has anyone else noticed this ?

My firmware is up to-date at 1.50. I was using a Scandisk Cruzer Force 64GB while this problem was occurring.

I thought maybe try buying a new drive might help. So I purchased a Scandisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 64GB in a bid to solve the problem. Well this is the odd thing. I Loaded one playlist onto the new drive formatted as Mac OS Extended and plugged the drive into the XDJ RX and the playlist appeared as it should. Great you would think !! I then put another playlist on and tested that. There it was, back to the 'Rekordbox Database Not Found' error message.

Is anyone else having these issues ??

Also another point to the pioneer guys. Did you know the time mode button that changes the remain/elapsed time on both decks. I find this frustrating as I like to have the incoming track on elapsed and the outgoing track on remain. Surely the point of the deck 1/2 button was to change these features independently. This also applies for the quantize button. When you turn it off it turns that feature off for both decks rather than the one selected and outlined using the deck 1/2 button.

Was this an intentional set-up. Are there any plans to change these features to work more independently ??

Look forward to some feedback.

Regarding the time mode, that button does operate both decks and the design is for it to switch both. I'll pass that comment to the engineers but I can't guarantee when it would be implemented, if at all.

As for the drives, have you tried with anything USB2.0 or 32GB or smaller?

Hi Pulse,

Well my unit does not switch the time mode individually. As I say its the same for the quantize feature as it is for the time mode. Both decks switch no matter which deck is selected.

As for the pen drive issue iv tested it on various different type of drives and still all having the same issue. I thought it would have been solved with the first 1.2 firmware up-date but doesn't seem to have work for me.

Regards.

@Danny > It's not supposed to switch them individually.

Re: the USB drives, that didn't answer my question -- did you try with USB2.0 drives or drives which are 32GB or smaller?

Hi Pulse,

Oh right. Well a little feedback to the pioneer designers is that all the djs i know use elapsed on an incoming track and remain for an outgoing track.

As for the usb's iv done some testing today on all the drives i have. And found some really strange behaviour. Ill list the drives i have tested below.

On the following drives. Verbatim USB 2.0 8GB, Scandisk Cruzer Blade USB 2.0 32GB, Scandisk Cruzer Forcer 2.0 64GB.

I formatted the drive, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then placed one playlist of 60 tracks on on each of the above drives and in all cases the drive showed the playlist on the XDR RX system. Then I have gone back to rekordbox and uploaded another playlist. Put pen drive back in unit and it doesnt work

This is a screen shot of what I see ------>  http://pasteboard.co/2xQgraJH.jpg

The Scandisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 64GB gets what I have uploaded in the screen shot every time.

Regards.

When you remove your device from the computer or player / controller, are you properly stopping / ejecting the drive before removing it from the USB port?

I assume so.

On the computer i eject through the button and wait till the drive does not show in the menu field down left hand side.

Then on the player I am holding the usb button till the red light goes completely out before removing the drive.

That's good - that's the correct way to be certain that no files are still in use when removing the drive.

When you were testing it, did you happen to try any formatted to FAT32? You mention FAT formatting only in your initial post.

Could you send the export database from the device? You'll find it under your external device at Pioneer\rekordbox\export.pdb

Everything works ok when you format it at FAT32. But why i prefer to format at Mac OS Extended is that i have found when your is formatted to the Mac OS the players seem to respond so much faster. What i mean is when you are scanning through a track (holding down the search button while using the jog wheel  to scan through a track) it is so much more responsive than when the drive is formatted at FAT32. When the pen drive is formatted to FAT32 searching is very slow and stuttery. I dont know if you have experienced this?

More strange behaviour. Iv looked in all the pen drives iv uploaded onto Mac OS and there is a contents folder. but no pioneer folder with export logs in. But if i format the drive at FAT32 and upload then the pioneer folder is there. Below is a link to the export file.

The speed of scanning through a track with the hypersearch is dependent on the filetype (MP3 and AAC requires decompression, WAV and AIFF do not), less the filesystem.

The Pioneer folder may be hidden to your system - you can view hidden files/folders via these instructions.

@Pulse: sorry to jumping in like this, but can please confirm if the XDJ-RX actually fully supports HFS+ (like CDJ-2000) or not? Since the spec says it only supports Fat and Fat32.

Hello Pioneer

I have the same problem , my USB sticks do it on CDJ2000 Nexus but not the XDJ RX.

On the RX , he indicates that the database can not be found

I have the latest version of rekordbox and the firmware of the XDJ - RX 1.80

What is the solution to this problem

Sincerely,

@pulse

I am running 32gb USB 2.0 Scandisk Ultra Media formatted to FAT32

any ideas why I would be getting the "Rekordbox Database Not Found"

whats interesting is I have no problems with it on the CDJ 2000, CDJ 2000 Nexus

only on the XDJ-RX running latest firmware update 2.1.0

@Spam Ham > Please try using a different brand USB drive, it could be that there is an incompatibility with the chipset in that SanDisk USB drive.

@JR > The issue is not likely to do with the firmware of the unit but your USB drive. Which make/model of USB drive are you using?
