Hi Mike,
Since firmware 1.30 RX fully supports the HFS+ format. I’m not using that format myself, but I’ve tested it without any problem.
What firmware are you using?

I thought that one of the firmware upgrades made it so you could use a Mac-formatted USB stick in the unit. I got my new XDJ-RX today and plugged in my Rekordbox-prepared stick (mac formatted) and it didn't see any songs. It's a 128gb drive with about 8,000 songs. I ended up re-formatting the drive as FAT32 and now the unit sees everything and works like a charm. It's not a big deal, I suppose, but wanted to let you know that it does not appear to work unless it's a FAT32-formatted USB stick.

I'm using the latest firmware 1.50
It could be that you needed to re-export the database anyhow, it should work with either format (FAT32 or HFS+) as of 1.30, as @Alex notes.
I reformatted and re-exported the songs and it worked with HFS+ ... not sure what was wrong before. Anyway, I'm LOVING this unit. One minor thing, in the settings where it asks what you want displayed next to the "title". I chose "Artist" and it doesn't show up. The only thing that appears at the top of each deck is the song title.
Oh, OK ... I see that option I mentioned above is for the search column, not the colored bar across the top of the deck. Is there a way to display "Artist - Title" on those colored bars above each deck instead of just "Title"? If not, I'd like to suggest that option. Thanks!
@Mike: That option is only available when you're browsing for songs.
Please make sure that you have the sort order set to ”Default” on the RX unit (When you’re in browse mode on the RX, first press and release the MENU button and then choose the sort order under sub menu SORT). Otherwise it shows the column for the current sort order of the list.
Alex, GREAT tip. Thank you. I prefer to search by Artist, so that helped me. :)
Oh, I figured out the HFS+ "issue"... here's what I discovered. When I re-format a fat32 stick on a Mac to HFS+ it doesn't work on the XDJ-RX ... it's because Disk Utility defaults to "GUID table" ... what I did to fix things was choose to re-partition as MBR instead... that seems to do the trick :)
@Mike > That's why I created this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYp71yrnvNw
Thanks for posting this video Pulse. Can I just check one thing. In the video you just mention that the formatting process you are showing is for CDJs. But I presume we should be doing the same thing for using a USB drive on the XDJ RX?
