midi sync to external devices with pioneer xdj

Hello

is it possible to sync external devices to to a xdj-rx?

I would have ableton and maschine for now, which runs on computer, the idea would be to switch to a computer independent sampler.

Both do need to be in sync with the music playing.

I currently own a djm900nexus, which is also my audio interface.

Now thinking about buying a xdj-rx, or 2 xdj1000 players(which would be more expensive).

best regards

Valentino

The best-case scenario would be for the RX to be sending BPM signal over MIDI through the USB, but that would have to be received by the computer and sent to the Maschine. You'd need to run some MIDI software to achieve that routing, but it might be possible.

Hi Pulse,

When you say it "might be possible", do you mean with the RX in midi mode or standalone mode?

I am looking for a way to use the RX in standalone mode, but use it's midi clock for external devices.

Any way to do that?

@Michael > In that case, it's a soft "no" -- and I say "soft" because the RX itself doesn't output MIDI clock. There are some users who have created 3rd party tools to sniff the ProDJ Link signal and grab the beat grid data and turn that into a MIDI clock signal, but honestly, it there's the capacity to read the BPM from audio, that would be an easier solution. I know it's not a perfect sync, but it would likely be less hassle.

Thanks for such a fast response!

So that means the ProDJ Link signal is transmitted even if the RX is being used in standalone mode? Would you happen to know where I would find these tools?

And I also tried looking for a realtime BPM -> midi clock app/plugin but had no luck. Any suggestions?

Cheers!
