Problems with XDJ R1 - remote box and midi control

Good day all,

I have a pair of CDJ900's and using the rekordbox software successfully for a few years now.  All music is stored on a 250G portable hard drive. Total tracks analyzed on rekordbox is in the region of 8000 tracks. Space used on the HD is about 120G (some folders are not

This weekend I picked up the R1 and for some reason or the other, the R1 was not picking up the HD at all. So I tried to just transfer some music onto a 4G flash drive. It worked but when I tried to connect with REMOTEBOX, it was not reading the flash drive. Only the two (2) tracks that were playing at the time, picked up on the iPhone - i4. On a side note, the effects feature on the i4/ Remotebox, is just fantastic.

I then tried to hook the R1 to Virtual DJ LE. It worked but if a track was playing on channel A and I tried to select another track on channel B, it stopped the track on channel A. So basically it was only playing on one (1) channel. If I looked at VDJ LE screen, the pitch slide moved if I moved it on the R1.

I even tried to use the VDJ trail version, but still only played on one channel.

Please help!!!

Vishnu

Unfortunately the R1 uses a different rekordbox database from the CDJs. You need to go into rekordbox and into the preferences to select DDJ-R1. After that you'll need to re-export everything to your external device. I suggest using a secondary device rather than exporting to the same device you use with CDJs.

Good Morning Pulse. So what gather is that I have to load the rekordbox driver that came with R1 then export the library to hard drive that will only be used for the R1.

One more question, by "updating the rekordbox software, will have any effect when I exporting music from the same library to be used on the CDJ900's.

Do you think I shuld have a separate PC for the R1's library base & another for the 900's library.

No no no -- the EXPORT library is what changes; the internal library can remain the same regardless. If you're going to be using a CDJ, you make sure you've got the Library set to CDJ, then you export. When you want to export your songs for use on an R1, you change the preferences again and then export.

As suggested, you should use a different export device for the R1 than from the CDJs so you don't have any conflicts or overlaps... or problems.

Hi Pulse, sorry for the late response.

At the moment, my Rekordbox library is on version 1.4.1, which is on my stand alone PC. I looked for the export details (as per your attached screen dump)...and I cannot find it.

Do I now download/ update my current version with Rekordbox 2.0.5? If so how do go about doing this? (I have the driver that came with the R1). Really worried about all the data on the current version. Took me forever to sort the library out in a logical order.

And if follow you correctly, I will need to have a separate HD, dedicated for the R1 and another for the 900's.
