Time Codes with CDJ's

Alright guys so I went to the club yesterday, and I usually use a VCI-100 but we had trouble hooking it up so I was forced to use the Pioneer CDJ 1000's. As I was setting up my friend told me I didnt have the proper Traktor to use with it. I use Traktor pro, but he told me I needed Traktor Scratch Pro, which were what the timecodes were that were inserted into the CDJ's. Why didnt Traktor Pro work with the Traktor Scratch Pro timecodes?

Maybe you should check out Native Instruments website and compare the different versions. Traktor Pro is to be used with controllers like your VCI-100. To use Traktor Scratch Pro with CDJ-1000's you need TC CD's and a Audio XX DJ soundcard from NI.

You MUST have Traktor Scratch Pro to use timecode, period. Regardless of if you have timecode CDs and what soundcard you have if you don't have the SCRATCH version of the software you will not be able to use timecode.

Yea I figured this out the hard way. I have Traktor Pro and a DDM4000 mixer w/ 2x CDJ400 and I got the Audio6 NI and the TC CDs, all of a sudden I realized Traktor Pro doesnt operate with timecode such a low blow. So instead I just got an external recorder, and returned the Audio6. Dont really need a laptop with this set anyways I figured this is where the talent is. Instead of beatmatching and mixing with a program.
