Unable to connect XDJ Aero - driver or configuration problem?

Hi guys, Im using windows 7 and trying to connect my Aero to Virtual DJ Pro 7.4.

Im following the installation PDF exactly, but after i have selected the Asio driver sound card and the output to external mixer, I get and error message reading:

"Error in the ASIO driver, your sound card is probably not connected, or settings are incorrect"

What is causing this? I've tried a few different approaches and same massage each time. The driver seems to be having difficulties.. Same with tractor.
