[CLOSED] Recording external sources on DDJ SX hardware issue?

Hi Pioneer,

Before being the proud owner of the DDJ SX, I owned the Numark NS6 for 3 months.  NS6 worked with Serato ITCH, the predecessor of Serato DJ. In the NS6, I could record external sources (vinyl).  This is an essential feature for a controller that can be used as a standalone mixer.  Using the DDJ SX and Serato DJ, I am not able to record my external sources.

At Serato, they tell me this is a hardware issue, so linked to the DDJ SX.  This would be greatly disappointing.

Can you help please?  If this is linked to the hardware, will Pioneer foresee the implementation of a solution or will you continue referring to Audacity (or any other external application) as the solution?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Joeri

I totally agree with joeri stoop. What would make this dj controller the all-time best would be its ability to record external inputs, separately into a dj software or DAW. Is there any way Pioneer, this would make my DDJ-sx purchase even greater !

It would be great if i could unleash all the possibilities of the controller by for instance looping that kick ass break or rhythm section you only have on that particular piece of wax... Without first having to record it in Audacity.  Sorry for insisting, Pioneer, but it would be great if you are in a position to implement this.  Regards, Joeri

Thanks for the feedback and input guys, I have opened a ticket with our engineers to find out if it's possible to find a solution.

Thanks pulse, great news indeed. If the firmware is upgraded to allow this separate inputs, maybe we could also dream of having DVS support directly through the ddj-sx one day? I wouldn't want to push my luck but it would be amazing.

Cheers!

Good day Pioneer,

So, my issue is. During a set my ddj-sx-n will stop playing audio while my computer keeps going. If i disconnect usb or power down the ddj the serato program will play the music thru the computer, then i power on or recconect usb an the audio will reboot and play again. This obviously can be detrimental in a nightclub. Has anyone heard of this issue, it just began for me and wont stop. Very nervous that it will happen continuously. Please advise....

The engineers have informed us that the original issue raised was actually a fault on the side of Serato and not the hardware.

I am in shambles...  Devastated.... Sad....  It's not funny, when so much money goes into buying equipment.  It took me 5 months to save $600.  Friday night I bought my 1st controller, a DDJ-S1...

This morning I updated the recommended firmware on the pioneer website in order to use Serato DJ, and now my controller does not work anymore.  Will not turn on, nothing... Dead!

Can someone please help me.

So it won't power up, have you tried to connect it to your laptop/pc without the external power on the controller?

That is correct, no matter how I plug it in, directly to wall only with ac adapter or to laptop with usb alone or usb and adapter, it no longer powers on...  everything was fine before...
