First gig with my DDJ-SX2 and Rekordbox. A few thoughts

I spent the last 30 days with RB4. Decided to leave Serato and Traktor behind and did the entire night with RB4.

While I have had some crashes before, none this night. That said, I avoided doing the things that had caused crashed in the past, such as changing beat grids or changing CFX during the sets.

A few points:

  • The lack of a "Played" indicator was annoying. I actually ended up playing the same song twice in a 4 hour set. At approx 2-4 mins per song it's easy to do this. PLEASE add a working "PLAYED" indicator that can be reset (or resets after x hours).

  • Had some issues when I used SYNC and the sync range was larger than my normal 6%. Caused the new track to go into WIDE. Then when I stopped the other track adn moved the incoming track's fader a mm it moved >10%. Not sure what the workaround is for this. (avoiding sync?)

Other than did, I was quite happy with RB4. I think when the remaining bugs get fixed and Pioneer starts to add some effects and DVS this will be my go-to program. Happy to haev pre-ordered my DDJRX, now just have to wait for it to show up!

@Harry > The played indicator will be added to a future update.

The sync range is changed when the selected range is not wide enough to match the new pitch requirement. It would be nice if the software could pick the appropriate range instead of jumping to wide.

Thanks for putting your experience in here. I am moving from VDJ Pro 7/8 to Rekordbox... completely skipping Serato. My RZ should be here tomorrow and I feel as if I should practice several sets before even considering to use this for a live gig. That plus I have to reset all my cue points from VDJ into Rekordbox.

rekordbox 4.0.3 introduced the tracks-played indicator. After 1 minute of playback it will turn dark green, currently loaded tracks are light-green.

That pitch-range-change bug will be addressed in an upcoming rekordbox release.

You can plug a powered hard drive into a CDJ.
