any reputable place should have a return policy for at least 2-4 weeks, have you checked with them?

Follow[CLOSED] IS MY XDJ 1R RETURNABLE TO THE SHOP AS FAULTY?
There's so many issues and glitches with this unit. I purchased it to use it for djing /work. I dare not take it now. I havnt got time for transcoding loads of mp3s again. They work in the aero, not all here and they sound a lot worse too. i Don't want to be part of a software development process because I don't have the time. Does anyone think I'll be able to return it for a refund ? Issues and glitches = faults to me.. any thoughts pls?

@Bobgavid > If you are unsatisfied with your unit and if we can't be of any assistance here to work through your issues then yes, contact your retailer to discuss returns policy.
I hear you, Bobgavid..I will be returning mine as well. I DJ professionally and was excited about this system but, like you, don't want to fork out money to be a beta tester for a system that is clearly not ready for market. I didnt even get answers to some of my questions on this forum and I;m new to Pioneer equipment. Too bad, it looked like a nice piece of kit.
I bought mine at Long And McQuade and they have a 30 day return policy.

Is the Aero having this many issues?
Thankyou for the comments. I did contact my shop they asked me to contact pioneer technical support. So I did this, the guys were great, but it still comes down to updates, what type of mp3 is it etc. Bit now I will be asking for a refund. The aero doesn't have issues like this and works amazingly compared to this .
@jobushwick > These problems are currently under investigation and will be remedied shortly.
@Gavin I understand that when it comes to electronics there are some defective equipment with every couple hundred. But it seems that with Pioneers latest equipment they are faulty in a larger scale. Do you guys have enough people beta testing or have some sort of quality control at the factories. I really wanted this but just like the 2000 nexus I will wait till the next line of cdjs and xdj. Love Pio still but they need to step it up with quality control.
I agree with dj invasion. Are these being tested at all before rolling out? Within 5 minutes of opening it didn't work correctly. Doesn't anyone go and do a gig with it first to see it works? So we're left testing it , and watching it crash with that awful squeel it does infront of hundreds of people...
Sadly my retailer (Agiprodj.com) does not issue refunds only returns for in-store credit and exchanges, I know that Pioneer has numerous DJ's employed as demonstrators/product specialists worldwide, they should be the ones beta testing these units instead of us or maybe they do but the engineers/programmers don't listen to their feedback.
I wish we knew what goes on behind closed doors. There is honestly no way these things have been tested by professionals, The pioneer reps know that I personally test the crap out of most players they release and find pretty much all the bugs in them yet they don't ask me to beta test the controllers before they are released so either they really don't have a great beta program being that I had the deck lock up on me within 5 minutes of playing with it or maybe they just don't like me, don't know
what I do know is more and more people are seeing this pattern and are refusing to buy newly released gear by them which only backfires n them being they use their customers to be the testers. Eventually we will all catch on the their game
Very well said brichi!
They don't want have to pay you Brichi - ha ha. They need a new business model with their users. We all want to help since we are backed in a corner since agiprodj doesn't refund- sucks!
@Brichi > You would think that since they design the hardware and development the software in-house there would be tight integration/quality control like Apple has with their products, just poor on Pioneer's part but as long as people keep buying their products and continue to be "club standard" nothing is going to change, competition I think is also driving this trend and trying to cram as much technology/features into a product without making sure the basics are covered.
When I spoke to my shop, they said call pioneer tech support and don't look at the forums...tech support said look at the forums. I'm away at the moment. Hopefully dj decks will have a nice stance on refunds.
