Pioneer CDJ 400 - Trakor

Hi,

Im trying to get my CDJ 400 decks working via Traktor, but running into some routing issues. Basically i am following this article from NI:

https://www.native-instruments.com/...o-pioneer-cdjs-for-audio-playback-in-traktor/

It seems to be working partially and also intermittently. To explain, I cannot get the aggregator to show both desks, 9 times out of 10 it only shows one deck.

Then on the odd occasion when both decks have displayed in aggregator, i then experience both audio are outputting to the same CDJ deck/channel. I think this is because i have nothing listed in output routing of Traktor, i.e. no CDJs listed, as it has outlined in article.

Is there something obvious i am missing here? Anything that i may need to change in MAC Audio Midi settings maybe, in order to see CDJs in output routing list?

Sorry if this seems a bit convoluted.. any steer much appreciated :)

So when you set-up the midi audio on your Mac do you see both CDJ-400s in the properties drop down window? Also in the agg device editor have you typed in a name for the new set-up (2 cdj-400s) and seen this in the properties? What OS are you using.

Hi... thanks for reply. Ok i now have the aggregator working with both my CDJs in there (its very finicky). I have followed all the steps, i.e. on audio setup on traktor i have selected the midi aggregator device i have renamed, which seems to select fine.

Then on audio routing, i dont see any listed CDJ devices in there. Looks to be just default settings... im assuming here in lies my issues :(

End result as before.. all looks ok, but traktor is outputting the audio to the same channel on my mixer.. Channel 1.

Hmmmmm.. :(

@Dave > Sorry for the delay on this, Jay and I were both away.

How do you have the USBs connected and to which model of Mac computer? You can find the model number by going to the Apple, holding the Option key and clicking "System Information..." - you'll find the Model Identifier on the right.

wow... thanks a million for the reply... no problem at all :)

directly into USB ports on my MAC... although i have a pretty high end powered USB hub i have tried, which actually works a little better.. as in i could get both displaying in aggregator.... was like one in ten plugging in directly!!

Macbook PRO - 13-inch, Mid 2012 version 10.9.5

Build 13F1077

Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Hope this is what you require, couldnt directly follow your steps..

Would it be my version of OS?

hey guys... thanks again.. and yes ive followed your video...

i have created the AGR exactly as you have (called CDJ_AGR)... then went through the audio setup in traktor.... all seems OK, except for the last part where in "audio routing", you select you AGR device.. i dont see me CDJ_AGR which i have created. I can see / select it in the previous step "Audio setup".

The result basically, is deck A is working fine.... without issues

Deck B loads up a track OK, but wont do anything else... the controls work to a certain extent, the jog wheel etc... but zero else.... play button etc... :(

Could this be a mac compatibility issue.. anyone else on here with a similar setup?

i have noticed it always seems to be the same deck.....

could it be a hardware issue? or firmware even.... ?

is it possible to wipe / update a cdj firmware?

@Dave > Did you assign a different MIDI channel to the 2nd CDJ? And did you check the MIDI assignments within the Traktor mappings?

I don't recall, but if you have separate MIDI channels assigned, it should work properly. I honestly haven't used my 400's with Traktor in so long, I can't say with any certainty that nothing has changed within Traktor (or newer versions of the Mac OS) to disrupt the configuration I showed in the video.

It could also be that the control for playback of that deck isn't working because there isn't an audio device properly assigned to it. Can you post a screen shot of your audio configuration from within Traktor?

Is your deck B not assigned to 3/4?

Do you have both of the devices set to the same sample rate on the aggregator?
