DJM-900NXS2 Problem with FX

Hello,

I've receiveed my new DJM-900NXS2 a few days ago, and already updatet it to ver. 1.07. But there is still a problem with the FX section.

After using the FX section a few times with the x-pad, the FX section cannot be shutdown again ( only due to a complete restart of the mixer ), the FX-section also triggers itself spontaniosly, and cannot be shut of.

Is there a solution for this problem ?

Hi this morning the problem with fx happend again. If you want I've made a couple of videos:

Part 1: the fx hangs (in my case) with vinly break, I think the x-pad is registering a touch even if nothing is touching it

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/130649/djm900nxs2_stuck_part1.mov

Part 2: once the fx section is stuck there's no way to shutdown it, even changing the fx doesn't allow to turn off the blue button

https://www.dropbox.com/s/of99mcfst9w3dwt/djm900nx2_stuck_part2.mov

Monday I will bring the mixer to the Pioneer dealer.

Hi Pulse, thanks page 17 clears the helix effect up for me but the filter is not right.

here is a link to a video of the issue,

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9y1fgsx8j2j8c8s/HPF%20EFFECT%20VIDEO.wmv?dl=0

the audio is recorded using the mixer as the sound card. also i was never referring to this by listening through headphones and the jump/ gap between frequencies is more noticeable on bigger systems (you won't hear it very well if you listen on a computer).

the HPF has no response from 12-2 then there is a sudden frequency cut and it just doesn't sound good.

the noise i mean is the sudden pop the low end makes as you turn back to 12 (but the around the 2 area)

many thanks

simon

Thanks Luca, I've asked the engineers to take a look at the videos.

@Mark L,

Yes, if you put your finger very close to the X-Pad, it recognizes your finger touching.

Because the sensitivity of X-Pad is much related with the effect latency during using the X-Pad, we raised the sensitivity intentionally.

If you lower the sensitivity of X-Pad, effect latency will become larger.
In order to realize the best performance with low effect latency with the X-Pad, we believe the current setting would be the best decision.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thanks,

CRM, Pioneer DJ

@pulse . thank you for the response, I must say that i am a pioneer guy all the way but I'm not that impressed that its taking so long to sort theses small issues out with the flagship kit. back when the 900nxs was released there was a firmware update every couple of weeks which sorted all the little issues out straight way. but it seems with the 900nxs2 it's taking a lot longer as there hasn't been an update for 2 months :(

please keep me posted

cheers simon

@simon > I understand the frustration however the process takes several steps, from investigation of the complaint, to developing a fix, testing it, ensuring the fix didn't change other functions, passing QA and then a further internal test before pushing it to the public. If the team already had other issues they were working on addressing, it may not have come in as a priority and as a result, it takes longer than one might hope.

As always, your patience is appreciated and we'll post here and on social media when an update is available.

@Pulse. just wondering if there is anymore news on the HPF issue as its been another 3 weeks with no news? i have been checking the site for up dates but the last couple days it seems the support page on the site is missing. is this right? sorry if it seems like im keeping on but i have spoken to various DJ's when i have hired this unit out and they all comment on this and prefer the old 900. for such a high end mixer to have this issue is one thing but to have it for 3 months with no news or updates doesn't look good on the market leaders customer service:(  any info on this would be great

Japan was recently on holiday (Golden Week), so that accounts for about 10 days, but these solutions don't ever come quick as the issue has to be investigated, then a fix designed, tested, run through QC then all other functions tested to ensure that nothing else was broken along the way, and only then does it make its way toward the public.

Hopefully we'll have an update soon. Thanks again for your patience.

thank you for the quick response. i think the annoying thing about this is it was ok before the 1.09 update so you would think it would be quick the sort out. is there a way to roll back the firmware?

with regard to updates i always think back to the first 900NXS release which had loads of issues to start with but there was lots of updates within the first couple months with sorted it right out. it just feels like that support isnt there with this mixer. really hope this is sorted soon!

I was speaking with one of the product planners today and he asked "Do they know there is a parameter knob they can use to manipulate the color effects with?"

I sort of paused for a moment thinking, "I assume they do, I mean, I know it's there and I've used it without problem..."

Have you guys tried playing around with the parameter knob while using the filter?

Hi Pulse, yes i have been using the parameter Knob but it doesn't really change the fact the effect Knob does not respond until  you turn it to the 1-2 o clock position.

Hi to all,

I've started this filter issue few weeks ago on the other thread, and tbh I'm getting used to tis filter type, its growing on me, but if you want a bit more resonant filter with a better response , there is a way of doing it with a CRUSH effect, all you need to do is turn parameter knob all the way to the left and there you have a resonant filter similar to xone 92.

Hope this will help you enjoy your mixing until new filter curves come out.

Cheers

Hi Pulse and Keiko, I've just updated my nxs2 and now the HPF is working a lot better than before. It is still different from the 900 nexus even using the parameter knob, but I think I have to get used to it.

Thank you

@Luca > I was going to follow-up and ask, so thanks for posting a reply! Glad it's better.

@Simon > Have you tried the v1.10 update?

[FIXED]

  • SOUND COLOR FX worked incorrectly.
  • Input volume decreased when FLANGER was selected using LEVEL/DEPTH knob.
  • PRO DJ LINK worked incorrectly.

[IMPROVED]

  • SOUND COLOR FX curve for HPF.

Hi Pulse, Sorry for the delay i have been away. i have update to 1.10 and it is a lot better then before and the HPF is ok to use with the parameter knob at 12 o clock but i am still fining its still not great with the parameter at the 2 o clock position and still has a point where you get a horrible sound. i will do a video if needed.

all in all it is a lot better and the HPF is usable. thank you.

@simon > Understood, the engineer are still working on improving the functionality as they are aware there is still some undesirable noise when using the FX in that configuration.
