El Capitan and the DDJ-SZ

Hi guys, I've got a 2011 MBP and DDJ-SZ.
Since I've had El Capitan the SZ doesn't work as an external audio device.
It shows up in midi, but not audio.
I've gone through weeks of support with Serato, but hey suggest there is a compatibility issue with El Capitan?
I see you are working in 64bit drivers, are you working on El Capitan supported drivers also?

Pioneer is in the process of hardware, software and driver verification for OS X 10.11 and until such time as verification and/or updates are completed, performance and operation are not guaranteed.

Hi team, just wondering if there is any update yet?
Now El Capitan has had it's final release, and seeing you have some new hardware and software coming out, I would have thought it would be imminent?

Thanks

I'm aware you wrote 'See above.' Last time, but really looking for any update as to how long it will be until the driver is released? Even a Beta version or something I can work with?
If not a beta, at least a 'within 7 days' or 'by the end of September' would be good as I'm checking daily for the drivers getting my hopes up and I really want to use my equipment

Thanks

Ali

Apple has set the official public release date for El Cap as September 30th. It will not be until the final public release that Pioneer will begin certification of their drivers and software for the new operating system. At that time they will likely announce a timeline. There are no beta drivers available.

Thanks for your patience.

@Ethan > As noted above, it will be after Sep. 30th that they begin the verification process. Thus is the suffering of an early-adopter! ;)

Surely you guys want all your controllers to work with what will be the current shipping version of OS X when you ship RekordBoxDJ on October 1... =) But yeah, it's easy to forget about drivers when early adopting. =(

How much time it will take to make an driver update. so the GM of El Capitan was released on 9th of september. So it was more than enough time to work on a driver. For Windows 10 you don't take so much time to release new drivers but for MAC it takes so long...... i don't understand that... 95% of the DJ's i know uses MAC so focus your work on it. Also NI has launched a Beta Driver on 23rd of september.... so please try to launch fast only a beta driver for us to test it. I thinke for so a huge company like Pioneer it is a shame that nothing is working.....

The official public release was September 30th. Pioneer does not test with non-final / public releases as there is still potential for changes to occur, even with golden-master or release candidates versions.

Your patience is appreciated.

hi, I have followed the debate and we are talking about a release of the driver after the official release of 30 September version of El Capitan, today we are at 15 October and it seems that we are well beyond the date you described. I want to know now, how much longer we have to wait to be able to work with our equipment? we're not talking about doing illegal things, but only that we pioneer releases an updated driver to use the console.
we're asking too much?
Best regards

An FYI I've also tried downloading Pioneer's new rekordbox DJ and it didn't come with drivers. Half worked with the SZ, but of course, no audio out as you can't install the audio drivers. Traktor and VDJ are the same too.
Hopefully not too much longer, my SZ is gathering dust!

I say only one thing, who will compensate for all this money we lose by not being able to work? we spend so much money to buy the equipment and then a stupid driver that is not updated will not let us use it. This is absurd !!!

Sorry for this expression... but this is the biggest bullshit i ever heard. I'm working ass programer for apps on iOS and MAC OS X for years.... and i never had problems with apps or drivers which where tested on GM. They worked all after the official Release.... so what we here all need is a BETA Driver for testing. I can't be so difficult. Other Companys also can do such thinks. All my Native Instruments Products are working with there Beta Drivers..... small issues but nothing to worry. But You Pioneer let us standing in the Dark. I wanted to test Recordbox DJ. But i can't do it. 15 days from my Trial a gone. So if i don't get drivers very soon i can't test.... so also i will not buy it and will use still Serato. So you are loosing one client.... me.... and i know from others DJ's that they are still not afraid about this work.....

@Paky > The OFFICIAL PUBLIC RELEASE was September 30th; it has been two weeks (10 business days, not counting weekends or official holidays) since that release. As I previously stated, Pioneer DOES NOT verify its drivers / software on pre-release versions of the operating system as they want to ensure that no other changes are made between their testing and the official public release.

Nobody forced you to update your operating system - if you are a working DJ, you should know that new operating systems inevitably have their share of changes, and it takes time for testing and verification, and as such, you should ALWAYS wait until the dust has settled. Almost every DJ software company has warned against upgrading until they've had a chance to verify compatibility.

@Cristiano > Even Serato says "We do not recommend updating to El Capitan.", and Pioneer never releases beta versions of drivers. It was only two years ago that they finally agreed to a PRIVATE beta testing of the rekordbox software, and only this summer they had a closed public beta of rekordbox.

We don't have an answer to "When?". Your patience is appreciated while we wait for verification to be completed.

Bud, before you decide to respond to the general public please learn how to address people with a little more politeness, yes we understand Pioneer is working on a solution but this.. "Nobody forced you to update your operating system - if you are a working DJ, you should know that new operating systems inevitably have their share of changes" Really Dude?

I totally agree. I updated my OS and found out DDJ-SZ did not work, but I know better. Before you upgrade anything, make sure that your main products works with the new version. I think Pioneer is doing a fine job but enhancements takes time.. Bottom-line.

Pioneer is doing a good job? No.. the others Company like Akai, Native Instruments or Cubase are doing there Job. They all also said okay it could be cause some issues when you upgrade to El Capitan. The Difference was to Pioneer, That they all bring out some days Later an Update or Beta Drivers. I must say that all my oder Music Hard and Software had all worked after the Upgrade to El Capitan. Some crashes on Cubase... but after the update it works, Also all my NI Products are working.... so which company is doing a good job ??? PIONEER..... no way.

Pioneer is not the other companies. I love NI and AKAI and those companies does an exception job. My Traktor Z2 works great under El Capitan. If you are looking for companies. If you are looking for exceptional customer service / support do like myself and other DJs are doing. Go to countries that are more westernized and have shown that they have top-notched developers. Look at Rane, PCDJ, etc. Like I said before, Pioneer is doing a fine job and enhancements takes time. The other companies are doing exceptional because they are forward looking. For my Serato I use my Rane 68 for big events and PCDJ midi mapped to my Traktor Z2 for smaller video venues and my Traktor Z2 with Traktor Scratch for non-video venues. As a successful digital dJ we must have a backup because we are not in control of the software and hardware. In the early 80s when I started I had two MK2s and a numark TT as backup and a Numark mixer and a radio shack and gemini mixers as backups.

Yeah, that's a real d*ck response.

What about if I bought a new machine today? It would have that OS on it by default.

@Anthony > Then you are aware of the risks of buying a new computer within the window of a new operating system being released, and still have the ability to downgrade it to an older version.

It's not a d*ck response, it's reality. I'm a working DJ, I know if my computer died on me today and I needed to replace it, purchasing a new one would have an incompatible OS to the hardware I'm using.

The update is coming, but verification isn't instantaneous.

I'm not a working DJ. I'm a "prosumer". That's not the point. I have Yosemite running on an SD Card to get around this, that's not the point either.

My point was that your response was unnecessarily antagonistic and condescending. People make mistakes, or don't realise they have to check online to see if an OS upgrade will break things. They're already disappointed that their system doesn't work, they don't need to be told what they should or should not know. For someone who is representing a brand, you are not doing a great job of doing that in a positive way.

Sorry, autocorrect.

They're looking for an answer, I don't sugar coat. I would say the same thing to you in person. And for someone (@Cristiano) to come in and tell me I've given a "bullshit response" is not asking for me to be polite based on how they're treating me.

That's fair enough as an individual. But as a representative of an international well-respected company turning over billions of dollars a year? If someone that worked for me spoke to customers like that, they wouldn't work for me anymore.

Just saying.
