Sorry to hear it guys, but this certainly isn't a widespread issue. You can always contact Pioneer DJ technical support to have the unit inspected / serviced.
Tonight my volume kept dipping slightly for a few seconds at a time and only on the left deck. my laptop has only ever been used for Dj'ing (past 3 years, 2 years with the sx 2-3 times a week for about 4 hours a time), I've not recently updated anything so nothing has changed, my cpu hardly moves off tick over, it's happening on files that I use week in week out so no corrupt music files, there's no pattern, I'm not going into the red on channels or master either. Nothing else has ever been running in the background, the laptop is used for Dj'ing only. It did happen a couple of times when the bass was hitting but if that was a lack of power wouldn't it happen on both decks or cut out completely? Plus I've been using the exact same set up for the past 2 years in the same venue 2-3 nights a week and never had this problem. The venue has just had its main fuse board changed last week but wouldn't it happen on both channels if it was that?

@Christopher > My recommendation would be to first try changing the channel; instead of using CH1 on the left deck, use CH3. See if the problem continues to isolate if it's channel-related or simply that side of the controller. It's possible that after 1500 hours of use, the channel fader could be failing and causing problems requiring servicing. But let's eliminate that possibility first!
I have the same problem! It started happening on the 2nd channel in from the left, so I had an electrician fit a new fader. It still happens, like there's a dry connection in the circuit? Tonight, it done exactly the same thing on the first fader on the left hand side. So I had to start the song on the left deck, then use the doubles function and switch to the right hand deck.
It's really odd as it works fine for about an hour, then the volume dips! It's not the fader as I replaced the fader.
It's driving me insane! If its a fault with the circuit board, I'm going to buy an allen and heath as I've had a xone 02 for years, the channel faders are changeable like crossfaders!
The DDJ-SX took an electrician 3 hours to replace the fader and for the price of the unit, I thought the channel faders would be straight forward to change!
I'm so disappointed, I bought the unit October 2013 and It's kept in a flight case and taken out to DJ 5 hours a week! I use to rinse my Allen heath and 1210s for at least 5 hours a day for years and all I had to do was change the faders every once in a while!
Do you think it could be a software issue? If it is, that would be a god send, but from my experience with mixers, it feels like its a circuit issue that would take hours to find! I think I'll plug a line in to the 2 channels and see if the volume dips then, that will confirm if its a circuit issue!
Cheers

@Steve > In order to eliminate the source of the problem, as you noted, you could try the line-input.
@Steve and @Christopher, I am having the same issue, but it is with both channels on the left side, 1 and 2. Which made me think it was the crossfader that was causing the problem. I am about to buy a new one and replace it but I was wondering… did either of you end up replacing your crossfader? Did that fix it?
Thanks
Mike
I am also having the same problem:
Specs:
Macbook Pro 15" 2014; i7 Quad, 512ssd, 16GB, all non-essential software turned off. All MP3's come from Beatport, PromOnly, Amazon or ripped at 320kbps.
I first noticed this using Serato (most recent build prior to July 1, 2016. Music would occasionally dip, drop and fade in and out. I tried rebooting software and then the system. No Fix.
Upon returning home, I guessed this was a Serato issue. I read some forum post talking about it. So, I moved my collection to Recordbox DJ. Appeared to fix the issue until.
I went to an event last night using Recordbox DJ. Upon setting up the system, my assistant noticed when you bump or tap anywhere on the controller, the case, the roadcase, or any component, it causes the dip. This tapping is light, as light as tapping the play button or pushing the encoder.
I came online and read this forum page and tried the switch to channels 3 & 4. This appeared solve the problem. We completed the gig using just channels 3 & 4. This is a problem since microphones are wired into those same channels.
When running "Line In" on channels 1 & 2 with an iPod, the problem is gone.
The crossfader and channel faders of all four channels appear to work fine. This appears to be a midi issue. Setup is in a roadcase, so wiring is always the same as at home or out at a venue. Also, I use the same usb ports. I have tried different ports with no success.
Also, upon arriving home, I could not repeat the error. But, this issue does appear at venues. I tired to replicate it to record a video, but I could not get it to replicate again. Any thoughts?
I read in a Serato Forum that a user reflashed the firmware. Is this something that should be done?
Help is greatly appreciated.
Michael
@Michael > If you haven't yet tried updating the firmware, that's certainly something you should look into.
I have updated the firmware. My plans are to test it daily to see if I can replicate the error. Intermitent errors like this are the worst because it makes the unit undependable. I hope this fixes it.
I have same problem.
My setup chanel from the left to the right is
CH3 | CH1 lll CH2 | CH4
(Through A) (Through B)
When i slide volume fader of CH2 to maximum, sometime (i mean many time) volume kept dipping. My friend has same problem with his ddj sx.
How to solved, so annoying @@
I updated the Firmware. I updated the software. I tried the controller on 3 different computers. I even installed an old version of serato that had worked before! I also tried it on 2 different computers using virtual DJ 8.
None of it worked!
So I put the controller up on ebay for spares or repairs and got £150 for it! I feel completely ripped off to be honest and will never buy a pioneer midi controller again!
I now own a numark mixtrack pro 3 and mixtrack 1 for back up! It is nowhere as near as good as the DDJ sx, but i've had no problems with them and if they break I wouldn't be that fussed as they are a fraction of the price!
My friend has a DDJ SX and he noticed when he cuts the EQ out whilst mixing, the channel gains go louder!
It makes me so angry thinking about it! DJ equipment at that price should last more than a couple of years when you only use them once or twice a week
