The Master Attenuation setting lets you lower the level of the Master Output. This can be handy if the rest of the system is clipping but you are not even playing loud on the mixer.

The normal setting is 0dB (the -3dB and -6dB being the softer settings)

Would it be wise to set the master att to -6db when using the dj mixer (djm 900nxs) with multiple DJs of different skill level on a proper loud PA, also running digital inputs as well as analog inputs into the mixer  ie. Cdj2000 nexus; would it be wise to set the digital attenuater at -15 db to prevent digital clipping, considering some DJs run their gains hot with little headroom on the master output and expect even db levels from analog and digital sources considering the applied attenuation

You could do that, but with a loud PA there is probably a sound person or at least a limiter in place to keep things level.  Running at 0db would be the standard and then controlling the output level post fader to the PA would be the best route..
