Can't see any point in such DVS to be honest.

Why would anyone use a system which can't be used anywhere else than in your bedroom where you are in reach of your shiny 900 or 850 mixer?? - not every club and bar does have a DJM. In fact finding a usb equipped DJM on a small venues is more than rare..

Not use for not mobile DVS solution and if there are no plans for opening it to asio soundcards which can be taken with you, Pioneer should focus their resources on something more usable than a "athomeonlydvs".

I can't say officially if it will ever work with other (non-Pioneer) products, but consider this -- Apple only technically allows OS X to be installed on official Apple products because they know the variety of hardware configurations and have a certain expectation of the performance.

Pioneer knows Pioneer products and thus can optimize the software to work properly with the hardware, plus it's easier to provide technical support when I don't have to go and chase down the specs of the XYZ brand mixer only to find out that it has outdated and incompatible drivers and the latency doesn't go lower than 1s.

It would be nice for users to expect that they could use it with any hardware, but I personally hope that doesn't happen.

There 100% needs to be a portable Pioneer sound card for the DVS!  It makes absolute business sense for Pioneer to do this.  I would definitely buy the box as you need it in cases where there's no way of hooking the equipment into Rekordbox DJ which believe it or not is many many venues (mainly small ones) but that is where most of us play.  Many having the 850cdjs with some random mixer.  It also makes business sense because of the huge DVS market (think DMC).  Literally all of those guys use DVS, especially in the World Championships (their standard setup being Technics SL's and a Rane mixer).  Now most of those guys play out so if they can manage all of there music in one place then they're going to drop their Serato and Traktor boxes like a red hot potatoes.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR PIONEER!!

exactly, tying this strictly to a pioneer mixer is a bad idea, they need a portable serato type box, I play in 2 venues for parties and neither of them have pioneer mixers, both Rane mixers so I would be shit out of luck if i used rekordbox DJ

I wasn't saying to have it work with any hardware, I was saying pioneer should make a portable USB box so we can use it wherever we want like a Serato SL box, no matter what mixer to TT's are in the club, we can hook in the Pioneer small audio interface like we used to have to do with serato

:-DD So you made a turntable, decided to create a DVS software but you will not make a portable 2 channel soundcard because you are not sure what would be the demand.....??

:-DD

according to Pulse from Pioneer, the DVS portion will be used on pioneer gear like DJM mixers and DDJ controllers

if you have a Rane mixer and 2 turntables, then it will not be possible as of now, Who knows if they have future plans for a DVS box like serato has,

@Marek Maybe the most amazing comment inside this forum my friend! Well done! We are playing in many bars or clubs who haven't these mixers...! To be more specific very few have them. we need a portable solution with as such as a good soundcard like rane or native instruments. Try to make rekordbox a program that every dj will love it and make his work easy!

@BriChi Exactly! Not all bars/club have a high end equipment. After 1 week of purchasing RB-DJ, I wanted to cry a lot because I forgot about the DVS system and using other brands. However I do not want to stay in SDJ any longer because I hate the bugs of it. I hope pioneer will consider to make a dvs box. I don't want to purchase the djm s9 due to its paint chipping issue.

My main concern is that we are still being told that it wil only work with djm or pioneer consoles.

no word about if there will be some solution you can carry with you makes the people worry - I believe noone expects that every asio will be supported (even it will be a true deal breaker tbh) but what everyone wants to hear is there will be something that we could use with the hw we already use, no matter if its pioneer or not - in other words we just want to know if there will be something SL2'ish released or supported by the pioneer rekordbox :-)

Yes please! Create a Pioneer portable soundcard with timecode system...! No problem! We will buy it! No problem if we have to buy new soundcard but please make a portable soundcard with DVS...! Thank you!

I'll pass the comments along, but in all honesty, how many of you would be using rekordbox in a true DVS situation where you'd use vinyl control of rekordbox in performance mode?

@Pulse I think many of us my friend because I have read tha same thing at many threads. If the bar or club has new equipment we pretty ok but sadly very few bars and clubs own the right equipment for us to play with so we are forced to play with timecode  system and a portable soundcard. It is not our favourite way to perform in my opinion but we have to. On the other hand I don't want to take everytime my console to perform but prefer to use the club's equipment.

@Pulse

Everyone who does have turntables, doesn't have DJM and/or plays on a venues where is no DJM and/or CDJ but also plays from CDJ's and so wants to have (finally) only one library? :)

Honestly I am not getting your question - it sounds like if Pioneer is making a DVS but is not expecting anyone using it...? :-D

I understand that, I'm trying to ascertain how many of you would actually be using DVS as opposed to a non-Pioneer mixer and CDJs (for example).

@Marek > See my last post; I'm asking because even if the club doesn't have a Pioneer mixer (they have CDJs), you could use those as the audio interfaces to use rekordbox and perform without needing DVS.

there are still places that have the 1000's and a Rane 2016 mixer or DJM800, I'm sure those are 2 mixers that wont work with rekordbox DJ, You would need an external device to wire in like when we used to carry a serato box everywhere "just in case"

I understand that much, but much like the rotary kit, yes there is demand, but is there enough for it to be a viable product.

@Pulse - "You" was more meant to be Pioneer than you namely. As no soundcard is on the roadplan (as mentioned in one of the topics), it really makes me to think that the DVS is there just because everyone else have it so Pio don't want to stay behind but doesn't believe anyone will use that and so this feature will never get a proper attention.

At least this is how it looks "from outside". Thats really shame and thats what I am saying all the time - for me, it would be a no brainer because I would have everything on one place and wouldn't need to care what hardware will be in the booth..

I understand that -- Pioneer has several mixers and controllers which will support DVS and I'm not sure if the roadmap includes an interface box to allow their "DJ booth penetration" to expand to other mixers as well. The reason I was asking is I'm curious as to how many DJs would be encountering a DJ booth where there are zero Pioneer products (either mixer or CDJs), and how much need there is for an interface box.

@Pulse Pulse with all the respect my friend I asssure you that is a big need...! At least here in greece before a while I played at a bar with cdj-100!!! if I had't a traktor timecode soundcard i couldn't play! And as Marek said there are many many bars and clubs that still use cdj 800 or 1000 that don't support usb....! maybe they can't upgrade so quick... But a portable soundcard is still in great need my friend...!

I agree its a big deal, I know guys will not go to Rekordbox DJ if they can have a sound card box to know they can use it anywhere they go, Clubs are very spastic with what they have, I just DJ'd in a high end one a few weeks ago for a party and they still had CDJ-800s and a Rane 62 and I only use Rekordbox, Fortunately i had my 2000's in the car and they let em swap them for the gig but this is the exact point, If a DJ was Rekordbox DJ only, they would've walked in and been screwed, or just stick with serato and traktor

I guess Pioneer may be just releasing for the convenience of mobile guys that use the same gear on every job, then i guess its worth it but for club guys that work in 10 different places week to week, they will never come of serato/Traktor to Rekordbox DJ hoping each club they show up at has a DJM900 or above (or CDJ-900/2000 and above)

@Pulse Umm, yeah, there's DJ booths without Pioneer products... A big shame the DVS will be locked to pioneer gear without a portable box.

I know a lot of DJ's that use Rekordbox for USB but Serato for DVS which of course can be used without pioneer gear. Why would you invest in a system with the chance of not being able to play your DVS? Limiting yourself to Pioneer only!

Oh well..

The sad fact is that only a new clubs are buying the usb equipped devices but the other clubs and bars still mostly have working 800's players (if you are lucky) and 600's mixers (with the cue buttons working and not missing fader caps if you are lucky) and are not upgrading because such huge investment into nxs will never pay off for them. There is no point in taking your precious 2000's or XDJ's from home to the stinky club, exposing them to the risk of getting injured or flooded by a beer ;-)

The only thing you can do when playing on such place is to throw away the old cdj and use TT instead (the timecode cd is really the worst thing ever....).

If you are full RB user, you are now screwed as there is nothing how you could hook up so you have grab Serato you hoped you will get rid off once you heared RB DVS announcement....

Well seems the only way now is not to move to RB DJ (as I thought I will do) and rather keep the Serato and hid as I can be sure that with the SL3, I will get it working somehow no matter what is the equipment.

Really - the management responsible for the decision should look around some small venues instead of the AAA lined up venues where the full NXS setups are rented as meeting this setup in wild even today, is far far more rare than it looks from the youtube videos from the parties and gear junkies bedrooms ;-)

Hope someone will finally understand our situation.

I know, right guys.

Music management is such a big thing.  Currently I export to usb from rekordbox for my cue points and everything if I'm going to use cdjs but I'm having to duplicate everything in serato JUST for the dvs.  This makes absolutely no sense.  No one wants to have to manage their music in more than one software.  Whatever Pioneer think of demand for an external soundcard box, I know it's there just from speaking to people.  Nearly everyone says it would make their life easier.  Pioneer just need to have that little bit of vision and it would be game changed!  The fact that Serato and Traktor are shaking in their boots about it goes to show how important it is.  You've just got to look at there forums with numerous topics like, "are you thinking about changing to 'x'?" since the dvs plus pack has shown on the Rekordbox DJ website.  You can see them trying to do things to try and hold on to there customers like for example serato not long having released key analysis.  They're desperately trying to match software capabilities.  The fact that Pioneer is dominant in the booth, it's a no brainier for them to just try and lock the game down now, untold amounts of people will move over and they would massively increase market share.  They'd be industry standard for everything practically over night!

Listen to your customers Pioneer!

Anyway that's my second 2p's worth.

I dream of a time when I can can use a native Pioneer controller with Rekordbox DJ for house parties and small events etc...

A DVS box for the more technical stuff like scratching on turntables where it's a must as most DJs from this world still use 1200s and their own mixer as a mixer is a very personal thing for a scratch DJ, a lot use Rane because of the fader tech but there are some other good non-pioneer scratch mixers.  I'd probably use some sort of native pioneer controller like the DDJ-SP1

And, my usb stick for the big clubs.

This way I know that all of my music can be managed in one place and it'll work and I'll feel comfortable in any environment.

How's that for an Apple like Eco-system!
