Do you have your mixer on the RX set to midi or RX ?

When set to midi it should record to your hard drive.

When set to RX it will record to your usb on the RX.

I just did another recording in midi while connected to laptop.

watch your gain levels because it gets clipped really easy when recording to usb.

I just did about 4 small recordings to make sure the levels of the recording don't clip.

But it does work.

Recordings are not really good.  When mixing two songs the levels

jump up a bit...you can really hear and see the difference in audacity

@Rick > That's because you haven't adjusted the levels of the two tracks to match them when previewing before mixing, have you?

Oh yeah I tried over and over again, I made sure, double, triple sure

to make them at the same level, but when mixing them together it jumped up

about 2-3 lights.  I leveled them both individually at -3 and in the mix, using cross fader,

it jumped into Amber and back down to -3 after the mix.

In audacity you can see the huge level difference in the mix part,

it even clipped big time until I went -3.  I made several recordings at different levels

to find the right level.  Mixing makes it jump though.

As I just posted for @Rick in another topic:

When you have two songs being played at the same time, their waveforms can sum and actually spike MUCH higher than simply the combined volume of the two songs (which would be higher anyhow), or they can invert and cancel each-other out, making the monitored level much lower.

What is noted there is PERFECTLY normal.

@Hairless > You certainly CAN record to the USB device through the onboard recording function, that is the recommended method.
