The intelligent playlists also have to have the "in playlist" funcionality added. This is essential for this kind of playlists. With these additions we would not have to rely on iTunes for music management anymore and avoid future debacles when Apple updates their software.

Ahhh... you meant to have it as a criteria for creating the playlist...!
Gotcha , I tried it last night, thanks for the tip
Yes Pulse, this is one of the essential features that the Rekordbox intelligent playlists lacks. If they get enhanced with this feature and the 128 limit is dropped, then we'll all wave goodbye to iTunes. Please, please, this is urgent! You know that a lot of us haven't been able to export to USB since two months and it's extremely frustrating. Since Apple apparently dropped the smart playlist sort order, this is how Pioneer should handle there problem. Make the intelligent playlists as powerful as the iTunes version so we all can leave the iTunes mess behind us.
exactly!

Fully agree.
The only static playlists I have is for when I am actually planning a mix/set. Everything else is all intelligent playlists driven from tags.
This is just my Tech House genre, but I have (and want) similar structures for all the other genres I have (26 Intelligent playlists)
These are my genres (13):
This gives me a total require at the moment of 338 intelligent playlists, and that is based on my current requirements. I could easily (and want to!) break down a genre into about 100 IP's
My collection isn't huge (3587), but IP's are by far the best and quickest way to organise a collection.
I don't suppose you have an ETA do you?
@Sinclair > Sorry, no ETA, but I have to ask -- why aren't you using the MY TAGS feature to sort / filter through those classifications (bouncy, dark, fun, etc)? That would save you a heck of a lot of time and effort.
Everyone of those IP's are based on tags, of which I have a list of about 400 tags :P
Right, but what I'm saying is that's a bit unnecessary when you have the ability to filter based on tags; I know it may mean an extra click when filtering, but it's less effort than creating the intelligent playlist and then having to scroll through your pile to find it. Plus, it would allow you to filter multiple criteria - so you could have FUN and BOUNCY.
Jumping on this old topic since another more recent topic* doesn't allow to comment on it.
Adding my voice here in requesting more intelligent playlists and also the possibility to duplicate playlists.
Why are we so many to ask for me intelligent playlists?
Tags are not saved in files (verified in wav files), they are saved in the database. If you lose the database, you lose all your tags. In addition to that, the filtering section takes a huge amount of space on our small laptop screens.
Hope that helps you understand how important it is for us users to have more intellgent playlists and that you bring up the priority of this feature.
Thank you in advance!
@Pierre > Unfortunately we don't store the additional data to the files themselves as those tags are non-standard, never mind the fact that WAV doesn't really have a well-structured metadata system, which itself isn't even fully supported.
I've been complaining about that since day 1, but unfortunately the database structure is here to stay - and to be honest, it's much more powerful and can provide so many additional features over and above simply having data stored in the files themselves.
There are numerous tools available that can assist with getting that extra data in/out of rekordbox, so I wouldn't worry too much about that, and rekordbox stores 3 backup copies of your database so you can roll back or pull one up should there be an issue with the working version... and I always recommend DJs have a copy of their database off their machine (either on another drive or in the cloud).
All said, the intelligent playlist criteria is still high on my push-list for the product planners and I know they're working on things, so even though it takes some time to get these done, the list is LONG and they're working hard!
Hi,
I didn't see your previous response a while back asking about it being unnecessary to have that many intelligent playlists when you can filter.
The answer is simple - very few clubs (especially smaller clubs) have the ability to plug in a laptop and link, and the CDJ's are linked together with no switch/hub in place. Also not many DJ's use a laptop when playing in a club,
Therefore they are unable to filter when playing from SD/USB.
It is this exact reason I use intelligent playlists.
This request is over 4 years old now, and for me is a massive, massive limitation to me finding tracks when out.
I appreciate that things are being working on, but there have been a few major version releases published since this request, and know how SQL works (not saying your DB is SQL, but still) - this sort of tweak isn't a major change surely.
Anyone who says "this shouldn't be a major change" never fully understands just how major those changes are. ;)
Believe me, I'm a rekordbox user myself and I'm constantly barking up the tree about these fixes... and my proximity and access to the planning team is much closer and more frequent than end users!
