Software limits that should be removed!

Hello Recordbox developers,

I appreciate your software very much,

especially the my-tag functions for organizing and searching the music database by multiple selections...TOP!

But there are 2 software limits i can't understand at all:

1) WHY IS THE "BLUE CLEF BUTTON" ONLY VISIBLE IN "EXPORT MODE" BUT NOT IN THE "PERFORMANCE MODE"???

-> It would be VERY helpful to remember a Track combination also while live-mixing in performance mode, to improve your music database with every live mix!! When switching to EXPORT-Mode the playback gets interrupted.

(When using the automatic match function the manually matched tracks should also show up with preference on top of the list, displaying the blue cler!)

2) WHY IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ENTRIES (E.G. "GENRES") LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT OF 50 IN THE "MY-TAG" SECTION???

-> If you have a broad variety of styles it is very helpful to sort your Music by more "genres". A Number of 200 entries per column would be no software problem, right?

(my workaround: If you scatter the genres to different columns (e.g. "genres1"+"genres2") the "OR" function does work as "AND")

I hope you can add this functionality with the next update release of recordbox.

Thank you in advance!

1) Did you mean this?

2) In the metadata you can list as many genres as you want; the MY TAG area has 4 grouping sections and each section has a maximum of 50 different tags. You DO NOT have to use it for genre, you could make it whatever you want! We recommend you use that for the song's genre, that should be on the song instead:

We have asked for additional sort options, or to combine them.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks for your quick response!

1) Yes!!! That was what I meant. Hope my english was reasonably understandable. Why is this button hidden in Performace Mode???
(For me it is the most interesting feature, because if it is used in the correct way it's the "new FLEXIBLE playlist". But there is still some programming to do to max it out. (a comment field in the "related track list" would also be awesome) I mean only 2 perfect matches per track give you endless variations of perfect mixes for every mood...thats especially helpful for all difficult gernes (not electro minimal) where the compatibility between tracks in general is not that high)

2) Yes, I know that there are 4 grouping sections by whyyyyy are the tags limited to the amount of 50? Is there any reason for this and why do you recommend the song's standard genre???
(I guess it is neither a question of RAM to handle this nor a big effort and that it could be changed by editing the number somewhere in the code, right? The standard tags which are stored in the music file only allow 1 genre per track. That's iTunes level and kind of rigid for tracks that fit in 2 or more genres. Also the amount of tracks per genre is greater, so you have a better choice. Recordbox automatically displays the overlapping genres at the time you select 1 my-tag genre - an important info to harmonically switch between genres...so that's why I love the my-tags section)

Hope my request is comprehensible...?

I'm not sure why the limit is 50, it could have something to do with the design / size / configuration of the database or available memory, but for most users, 50 options in one category would be enough.

I recommend using the main genre field for the song's genre and one of the custom ones for a broader genre or "mood" of the track to take better advantage of the tags.

If you want to put a track into multiple genres, why not simply enter both genres into the genre field? Eg., "Progressive House" or "Progressive Trance" -- that way a search for "Progressive" would yeild both results.

Thanks for your ambition to solve my Problem, your suggestion is creative but have you tried to do that? Unfortunately the standard genres don't sort correct if you write more than one genre in the field! I mean that's why Recordbox is designed as a database. And databases usually don't have limits until your hard drive is full (just look at Oracle).
Do you have access to the programmers? If so it would be great if you could tell them to raise the Number, I'm quite shure that they can do it without any problems.
Please also don't forget to tell them my request with the match function in performance mode. That would help many people and improve the software.
In general, is there an e-mail address or special forum category where one can propose new functions or report bugs to the programmers?
Thank you very much for your help!

Hi, yes the removal of the 200 tag limit would be very appreciated. I am trying to figure out if I need buy an entire new laptop and split my collection into two libraries (electronic & hiphop/soul/funk) to bybass this. I would rather not though as I sometimes mix dnb with hiphop etc. Another feasible solution would be the ability to add additional sections of 50 tags. I am migrating over from serato, and am hitting a bit of a wall in the strategic organization of my music library. If there was any way you could increase the my-tag limit, that would be a god-send!
