Playlist Aliases

So I have a suggestion for Rekordbox. It's the same concept implemented on windows/mac computers: aliases, or shortcuts (for windows users) to playlists/folders.

Say for example I have a Vocal folder with all my different vocal track playlists within it (House vocals, Jersey Club vocals, etc), but for efficiency's sake I also want those playlists in their respective genre folders (House, Jersey Club for this example). In order to be as efficient as possible, I would have to make copies of each different playlist within the vocal folder, put those 'duplicate' playlists into their corresponding genre folder, and then would have to make sure that each time I got a new track, say a Jersey Club vocal track, I would have to drag it into both the Jersey Club vocal playlist in the Vocal folder, as well as the Jersey Club vocal playlist in the Jersey Club folder - total pain in the butt / time consuming. If I had aliases, however, I could make changes to either the original 'Jersey Club Vocals' playlist in the "Vocals" folder, or the alias of that playlist in the genre "Jersey Club" folder, and they'd both keep up to date without having to manage two of the same playlist.

Let me know what you guys think, hopefully someone at Pioneer sees this and makes it happen. I don't think it would be too difficult to put into effect and would save a lot of time / headache

Cheers,

Reggie

Hi Reggie,

The answer might be counter-intuitive at first but...
You should try to use tags instead of playlist to achieve same results.

And then take advantage of intelligent playlists :

Thus you could have an "intelligent" playlist with all house music (including house acapellas).
A playlist with all acapellas.
A playlist with house acapellas.

Once you have all your intelligent playlists made, it's up to you to organize them in a folder/sub-folder hierarchy for better navigation. But you won't need to copy/paste or create shortcuts. Just tag properly your tracks, define your intelligent playlists and you're done !

Allan
