Beta versions

I can't understand why people would download a beta version ,especially for djing live with ,why are beta versions appearing and not new finalised updates? This is not what djing is about.

That's how software releases work... The devs have to create test, alpha and beta versions and people use them at various stages of development to find and fix bugs and improve the software.

If you want to try out the latest fixes or features then use the beta versions... If you're performing and stability is a must then you should absolutely only use the stable versions. If I was playing live in a club, I'd even wait a while after the most recent stable release and fully test to ensure it hasn't introduced any new issues.

I know how it all works but who is using these beta versions? Are people willing to mess about then on one rekord box license downloading a beta then going back to an original etc ,I personally would not be willing to mess about testing for a massive company like pioneer on a product I have already purchased,it's like buying a pair of 1210s back in the day and getting an email saying they might work they might not but let us know won't ya cos we haven't had time to test them thoroughly because we are too busy making new hardware all the time the customer who had spent humdreds/thousands can do that for us.

...and you dont have to use it in Live Set u can test it on your second device at home Maybe.

No Beta= Update will be extreme Buggy

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would say how I use the betas. So basically, I keep version 4.1.2 of the software on my PC and also 4.2.1 - the master database is kept on my external SSD. I then install any Beta's and test, I always test the betas as much as possible and then forward any bugs found to Pioneer to fix for the final release. When I am playing live I always use 4.2.1 - if I was playing out and something even popped up (bug) in 4.2.1 that I had not come across I can then always play using 4.1.2.

Works great and help Pioneer to fix issues that I find so a stable release can be issued for everyone.

As always, I always mirror my external SSD onto a Mech HD for backup before installing a new version or beta, you never know an update could corrupt the master database so better safe than sorry.
